Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Thanks. My house has PEX A terminated with PEX B. My local supplier switched to a new PEX called Vipert PE RT. It is pretty new stuff, and I was not about to be an early adopter, so I hunted down the same PEX A I already have. Mainly, if there is ever a recall, at least everything is the same...

    COVID and the housing market

I found most of my joists have extra holes in them that line up. I wish someone paid for a string in them upgrade.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

PEX week. I am reworking some water lines that ideally need two tees back to back. Can I install them almost touching, with about 1/4 inch of pipe between the fittings? I cannot find any code rule or manufacturer warning against it for crimped copper ring installations.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

I seed my lawn with clover and a bit of grass and it's doing really good. I'm letting it grow so it doesn't mind the dry summer. Plus, clover is a vegetable so even during water restrictions I am allowed to water my "veggie" garden.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

I put a thin bead of dynaflex 230 to fix the one crack I had, and now it cracked on both sides of it. the cracks only started where the screws were so I took them out like you said. I'm done with it.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Just noticed this after mudding upstairs. I should have looked into it more and learned about truss uplift. Looks like I should remove the screws near the edge. The black lines are pencil marks.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Yeah, I overthink things, but every trade has so much intricate knowledge that it is hard to make good calls when you want things done right and not squeaking in three years. I need to reroute plumbing from a wall that is being removed. Can old PEX-B tee fittings simply be rotated 180 degrees...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Planer makes sense, thanks. What do you mean by "Only solid wood touches the floor. So plywood on edge." Do I build it out of real lumber or plywood?

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Solid advice, everyone. Thanks. I will chew on it, but I am definitely building a box. I thought dimensional lumber was the best choice. My first thought was plywood or OSB on edge, but stacked 6 inch strips with staggered joints, log cabin style, sounds way better and not too hard to build...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Hey everyone, I am back for the solid advice this place always had. The internet is dead these days, and this forum really knows it's stuff I am redoing the flooring throughout the house and the kitchen. The kitchen is IKEA SEKTION based, and the flooring is Fuzion Laminate Nautiq Pro, 9 1/4...

#$%@ GP Bikes just made my life harder

IMHO the bolt extractor socket should work but use it with a impact and push on it hard. If that does not work see if you can get a big drill bit to take off the head with the washer. Even better, maybe a hole saw could cut off the washer, and leave some of the bolt out to have something to...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

What’s the best way to reattach a section of drywall in the ceiling that doesn’t span between joists? Backing it with wood is effective, but it feels a bit rude for whoever might need to cut it again in the future. Is it possible to secure it safely using just tape? One thing I’ve learned for...

    Appliances brands?

I just pressed new bearings on the motor and installed new brushes in my old Frigidaire dishwasher. I still have all the appliances I had when I started the thread.

    No laws against headlights

A new high-beam offender is Tesla, which is especially upsetting since they’re supposed to be self-driving soon, yet they still cruise with high beams on. Teslas come with auto-off high beams, so the drivers must go out of their way to be extra obnoxious by keeping them on. I flash them and then...

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

I get it but the judicial system needs to be held accountable for the retreat offenders. I don't want the consequences to come from meat head officers. Is a beat down even an effective deterrent?

    Sportrack vs thule vs yakima

I fixed a bunch of top boxes with g-flex epoxy. My understanding is the CT stuff isn't really epoxy it's polyester resin. If you look you can find the g-flex cheaper at marine stores. G-flex has a longer working time than that CT stuff. Many older Thule boxes cracked where the mounting mechanism...

^ nukes might be the worst case scenario, but Trudeau winning is a close second and we have to get ready for that.
