Spray foam day today. Learned a few things.
The wood has to be below a certain humidity threshold or the foam won’t stick.
The wood can be treated with a stain blocker beforehand (we had that done to cut down on any small rotten areas left over after replacement).
They are putting 5” of foam...
Yucca (far left in the pic) and the hens and chicks succulent plants grow fantastically here and overwinter easily. The yucca I have has spawned about 5 baby plants and they flower every summer too. The winter hardy cactus was surprising but it’s growing pretty fast for a cactus. That’s...
Read another review of the ipo for SpaceX that showed the majority of the valuation is in AI associated business for which SpaceX is not known. Only a small proportion of the valuation is attributed to launch capabilities and communications (Starlink). Further it argued that the structure of...
Canadian winter hardy cactus in its 3rd season!
Its doing pretty well. Started off as just a couple of paddles on one plant and now it's split into two plants with multiple paddles. Hoping it will flower this year. It does have the world's most annoying super fine spines though.

There is a tested spring in Perth too. Not as scenic in terms of location, I think it’s right downtown. Never used the spring but Perth is a nice place to visit so I’ll head up that way soon and report back.
Beaver fever!
I’ve scooped up water from a stream before when I was younger. Wouldn’t do it now.
The Ardoch Spring is a proper artesian spring though. The water is untested formally but locals have tested it themselves with water kits apparently. Use at your own risk though.
Sounds about right. Everything is fine until you approach the Parham end and it’s only crappy because they ran the snakes so close together it’s a band of slippyness rather than spaced ribbons.
I bought some open box Yamaha outdoor speakers from Best Buy more than a decade ago (maybe 15 years?) and wired them into my Yamaha AV receiver in the second zone and mounted them outside above the deck and they sound fantastic. They’ve been through cobwebs, insects, accidental power washing...
Shelter with Jason Stratham on Amazon Prime
You know how this one goes. Moody guy with hidden past gets disturbed. Kid involved who he needs to protect. Easiest way to do this is to kill everyone. And that’s a wrap.
Watch some clips on those old movies and you’ll see the “mods” added a bunch of mirrors to their scooters. You should go one better and add enough to make your ride as wide as a semi. That should help.
When I was a kid there were “mods and rockers” fights. One lot in fishtail parkas would...
I’ve been putting the dunks in everything I could find but I forgot the rain barrels. I knocked the cover off one last week and a bajillion of the little blood suckers flew out. Need to sort that ASAP.
In the meantime I bought a few more of the tennis racquet bug zappers from crappy tire for...
It definitely changes the neighbourhood . A family home for an average family of 4, half of which are kids, all of sudden houses 6-8 adults with more cars than the driveway fits. This place has a pool which borders the street too so now it’s party central with landlords that are out of town...
Toronto people just purchased a house by us for $790k as an investment property. That kind of sucks, was hoping it would go for a family home. There’s a reasonable chance this might be AirBnB'd.
The shop vac I got last week at HD has increased. Maybe not everything changed.
Crappy Tire has a big sale on right now with a bunch of tools at up to 50% off. I think that runs until Thursday.
