    Clutch micro switch q

Thanks. I had a spray can of some dry graphite lube that seems to have worked well. Made a god awful mess of my fingers but did the trick.

    Washing/reviving Goretex

Gore-Tex used to have a very well respected Teflon type material that was the lightest most packable waterproof breathable layer for a rain jacket. I tried to buy an ultralight jacket made from it a year or so ago and found it had been discontinued in favour of the newer material which was...

    Washing/reviving Goretex

If it’s relatively new you may not need to use the extra dwr spray afterwards as the dryer cycle spreads out and reactivates the coating. If it’s older then you need to add more hence the spray. Goretex jackets like to be washed and dried regularly. Washing clears the pores of the breathable...

    Who's riding?

Blew some cobwebs off the other day after an oil change. Bike started first try like a champ. Just threw the clutch switch error after a bit (detailed in technical thread). No real issues though which isn’t bad for a 10 year old bike with a mass of sensors etc on it. Just need to run through...

    Clutch micro switch q

Just dismantled the assembly (dropped a rod connecting the clutch lever to the perch but found it after swearing for 5 minutes). The micro switch activating rod is metal and the sleeve it passes through is metal. Probably not the best design for zero friction so I’ll see if a small amount of...

    That’s a good point.

    Clutch micro switch q

I have a clutch switch error on my dash. I know what the issue is. It’s a tiny rod that a clutch pull moves against a leaf spring to activate the micro switch. The leaf spring piece of metal then is supposed to push the tiny rod back into the clutch assembly once the lever pull is released...

    Cutting 6mm aluminum plate

Thanks. I figured someone might find that useful at some point . Did the oil change. No issues getting everything out and putting them back with this modification now. Now I have a “Clutch Switch” warning to deal with.

    TV shows currently watching

The Beast in Me with Clare Danes on Netflix is really good. It’s a thriller with some really uncomfortable episodes in it. Danes is a bit typecast because no one does “breakdown” better than her but she’s still really good in this.

    Degreaser Recommendation

It’s for dull surfaces with little lustre. PP would be better. Carney is already shiny.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Flat roof to peak roof takes place later next month. This has been going on since September last year. Permits didn’t come through until recently. Trusses being fabricated currently. Looking forward to getting a leakproof house.

    Degreaser Recommendation

Barkeepers friend is for discoloured and soiled metal wear including aluminum pans so it should be good to go. I love the stuff, makes our sink shine and is one of the only products to get rid of all the gunk on it. It removed oxidation too and that’s what you may have.

    Degreaser Recommendation

You mean the aluminum has become discoloured? Barkeepers friend can be used on aluminum if it’s not anodized.

    Stripped stuck allen/hex screws Aurora/Newmarket

Powerman is right. Those bar end nuts often have loctite on them. I’ve had to use a heat gun or flame on them before.

    Cutting 6mm aluminum plate

Finally got round to this. Front hex bolts came off fine but the back ones were totally seized. Two started rounding off. So I did this on the bike. For anyone else a cheap metal cutting hole saw off Amazon (Mikes suggestion) worked best, better than a specialty Bosch bit. After that an...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

I like fountains. I have four of them, one is in a pond I made with a waterfall and normal spray head . Look after the pumps and you can do whatever you want with them. Making your own fountain/waterfall is easy and pretty rewarding using things like bamboo etc. You just need a waterproof...

We have Eufy stuff that’s pretty good. Added bonus of subscription free security camera too.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Water doesn’t run on or in that part does it? You could probably bondo it. Just cram the orifice with something to support it while it dries.

    VPN question?

Nord have deals every other day it seems. I locked into some longer term stupid cheap deal a while back. No issues with them so far and have been using them for years. Look out for another deal. I found Nord had more servers than PIA when a service I wanted was being geoblocked agressively.
