Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

I read that. He didn't get any convictions either. Until cops start proactively and aggressively purging the dirt they all know is within, I have no sympathy for them.

Cleaning house of mayor and council is not that hard. You have a chance in October. Cleaning out corruption from within TPS is almost impossible. Police are the largest gang in the country.

That press release is from seven years ago. Trial ended with no convictions even though he shot another cop 10 times and likely committed perjury. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton/donovan-perjury-acquittal-1.7272601

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

@mimico_polak buddy bought a couple. He may have info on owner experience. Resale and depreciation will be brutal.

When Chow is trying to copy Mamdani as a model for success you can't help but laugh. I'm surprised neither has paid JT to deliver his "budget will balance itself" speech to give them the socialism they so desperately desire.

Brad Bradford. Chow hasn't confirmed she is running but her lowest property tax increase in her term pretty much cements that she plans to. https://www.cp24.com/local/toronto/2026/03/04/michael-ford-says-hes-giving-serious-consideration-to-toronto-mayoral-run/

Depending on your heirs situation and expected estate, their TFSA's and/or RESP's can be another possible path for money. If they have the right attitude, that allows transfer of more money with less taxes. You transfer less dollars than if you invested and gave them money when you died but as...

Ha. Michael Ford is considering running. I don't think he has a chance. Sadly, that would give voters a choice of three losers. When can Canadians have an election where least-worst is not the best we can hope for?

If looked at in isolation (ie with CPP as your only source of income), breakeven is 80 something. If you include CPP in full financial plan with all sources of money, breakeven is early 70's for most people. Delaying CPP and melting down registered accounts can save you a ton of tax and CPP is...

    Spare fuel

I think you give it away at the base of the highway. You are done the hard part (out and back). You stop for a rest and meet people about to sacrifice themselves to the insects.

My parents had a CFP CPA looking after their investments as a wealth advisor. They were very clear that the money he had control of was flexible spending (like new vehicles, home repairs, etc). Dad died last fall. Mom explained that to advisor as I told her that she may want to pull more out of...

"Tahoe with subdued markings". Those all need to eliminated. They are just power trip vehicles. Clearly marked and very visible cruisers for everyone except uc and for them, vehicles that aren't cruisers at all.

    How`s your house pricing doing?..

Saw stop tried to force all table saws to use their technology. Thankfully they failed. While I think the technology is interesting, because they are evil, I will never buy one. If I used a table saw in a commercial environment, the line is murkier as claims cost a fortune.

Both of those paragraphs are very typical. Advisor makes a guaranteed percentage of your money regardless of performance. Zero risk and guaranteed return for them is a good gig for them and crap for you. There are a few exceptions like MM's guy that justify what is paid by increasing your...

When are you guys going to get your act together?!?!

Douggie passed a law in Ontario years ago that enshrined the end of time changes. Sadly, it relies on our neighbours to the south to trigger it. Seemed stupid at the time and still does. It makes very little difference to anyone if the time in New York and Toronto are one hour apart.

    Help shopping for skis

We skied about half the runs at owls head. I was skiing with my wife and while she is capable, she is cautious and didn't want to ski blacks or higher. Day 1 was her first day on skis this year and they hadn't groomed as it was snowing the day before. Definitely not ideal for her confidence nor...

Converting at least part of your rrsp to rrif prior to withdrawal is normally worth it. Typically an rrsp draw incurs a fee but a rrif draw does not. Withholding taxes are also different. Your ultimate tax owing/paid will be the same but the path is different.
