    Retired and back to motorcycling

There’s lots of nice 5th generation VFR’s (‘98-‘01) with the gear driven cams out there for sale cheap. The ‘98 was “Motorcycle Of The Year”. I preferred the gear driven cams to the Vtec, they had a really unique sound to them and were dead reliable. Honda switched to the Vtec in ‘02. I think...

    Retired and back to motorcycling

That’s an awesome bike. I had two older non vtec versions of that bike, a ‘99 and an ‘01. Best motorcycles I’ve ever owned.

Share your fondest memory of motorcycling

I remember reading that Canada was a dumping ground for non-current motorcycles, that’s why we got such cheap bikes back then. At the end of the production year, Japanese manufacturers would ship all their leftover bikes to Canada to be sold the following year at a discount without affecting...

Share your fondest memory of motorcycling

I’ve ridden many. The ‘72 750 H2 was the one everybody wanted. In ‘73 they started to mess with the carburation and exhaust for emissions and noise. They progressively got neutered and noticeably slower as the years went by. The ‘72 also had a shorter swing arm and wheelbase, anyone with a right...

Share your fondest memory of motorcycling

This is my brothers ‘72 H2. It was an absolute rocket ship. It had a Rickman fairing, JR chambers and a beautiful custom candy apple red paint job. When I was 15 my brother was writing an exam and I knew he wasn’t going to be home for 2-3 hours and decided to take it for a spin. I was barely 110...

The meathead will not be down for breakfast

What a legacy he has left. All In The Family was ground breaking and he was just getting started. This scene from From Spinal Tap is absolutely brilliant. I still get a laugh watching it.

There’s something so satisfying about watching those videos. I don’t know what it is but I can watch them for hours.

Got kids who want to try Roadracing?

Seriously, if your kid has aspirations of road racing the first thing I would do is to get him racing motocross or on a dirt bike as soon as possible. Had a lot of friends I grew up with that roadraced, the ones that really excelled all started on motocross bikes and moved up to road racing in...

What did you do in your garage today..?

I wouldn’t recommend that. I lent a neighbor my almost new Crafstsman snowblower about 12 years ago, he broke a shear pin and replaced it with a bolt without telling me. Later that winter I was clearing the windrow at the end of my driveway, a chunk of ice gets jammed up in the augers and takes...

    John Lennon

I just watched the Eddie Murphy documentary “Being Eddie” on Netflix. Apparently Buckwheat died penniless and Eddie Murphy payed for his headstone. He came across as a really down to earth guy, not at all like I imagined him to be.

    John Lennon

Today is the 45th anniversary of John Lennon’s death.Does anyone else remember where they were when they heard? I was in high school and the following evening we had a vigil that involved some beer and a bit of weed in my parent’s basement. I remember this 17 year old girl, Val, taking a big...

What Are You Currently Listening To?

I use to really like these guys. I saw them twice, once at RPM on Queens Quay. The other time was at a roadhouse type bar in Las Vegas, they just happened to be playing around the corner from the hotel I was staying at.

Anyone do the laser eye thing?

About five years ago,my wife and two step children (mid twenties) all got their eyes done at The Hertzig institute near Bay and Bloor. We were in and out in about an hour. Her son and daughter got perfect results. The procedure my wife got was one eye for close, one for distance and let your...

What did you do in your garage today..?

I just read the fine print about fine threads being stronger, apparently not so in soft metals like aluminum but i still think Heli coils are stronger in aluminum than just threading into aluminum. I did a lot of work years ago in a metal fabrication plant that made a lot of parts for the...

What did you do in your garage today..?

I think fine threads actually have more pullout strength than coarse threads. Fixing it properly with a Heli coil will also make it stronger than just threading into aluminum but yeah, that sucks.
