Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

I assembled some similar door and window trim for my daughter's place, built in around 1929. A router and saw was all that was needed.

Per board foot of base stock trim is obscene in price. I try to make my own.

    COVID and the housing market

What would three apartments bring in over a year. It might work as a rental property if it wasn't for LTB. The advantage of flipping is you don't have to look after it after closing. Rental with flipper quality workmanship aaand LTB could hurt real bad.

240 volt plug in Similar to this, 20 ampere circuit is running 100% but rules were meant to be broken. P.S. Poor seals also allow in critters that chew stuff. I noticed my seals were also leaky.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

My garage has 2" of FG in the outside walls and an insulated door. It's toasty warm when I run a 5Kw heater and never freezes as it picks up heat from the rest of the house. Like yours, a bedroom above and two warm walls. When I had an industrial unit with next to no insulation I set the...

    Science news of the day

Sadly, the hype often results in little hope as people fail to realize the stage of the supposed cure. Then there's the embellished version as the article gets passed on. Someone finds a new berry growing somewhere as says it might be a cancer cure. The info gets passed on that they're going to...

If you make the dungeon look nice does it make the rest of the house look less nice by comparison?

    Banks

My CIBC M/C payment doesn't show for ages but a phone call to the number on the card gets you the latest input. The call has to come from your listed number. 1) Punch in your card number 2) Unless you redirect the call, they give you your bank balance and latest entry. If you keep an eye on...

MECUM auction live stream - now!

There are a few YouTube videos where the poster shows the less glamorous sales, sales under $10K, under $15K, under $20K. Obviously one doesn't get into the Duesenberg club but 1960s and 1970s Rolls Royces are cheaper than a new Hyundai. Just hope nothing breaks. There's lots of stuff if...

    Stocks

Somewhat like crankcall, I don't have the training, contacts, or intuition on picking stocks so let an investment company manage my financial future. The problem is that individual advisors can come and go with, IMO, banks being particularly bad. Is it possible they come out of their degree...

One of our best investments was a 26 foot sailboat in the late 1970's. We loved the boat but the financing was a strain for us at the time but pay to play. A few years later circumstances changed and a new house loomed at what seemed a ridiculous mortgage situation. It was about the same as the...

    Happy Birthday Eglinton LRT

I was briefly involved in the Ottawa fiasco last spring, coming away shaking my head. It's like ten carpenters showing up to build a house and someone asks: "Anyone got a tape measure?" The replies: "Nope, no, not me, Uh-uh, nada, forgot, lost mine, nah, sorry, nobody told me. Is it too late...

    This on a 350cc Enfield !

The cynics say every dollar we send in foreign aid to feed their poor is a dollar the governments of those countries can divert to the private wealth of their leaders or to the thug armies used for oppressing the enslaved. If any of those countries have resources, those are already sold to or...

When anyone, even a dog, yes a dog, can run, you end up with a splintered vote. 102 last time around. People don't have time to research that many candidates and all too often the incumbent wins because their name sounds familiar. How about upping the entry fee to $10,000. Right now it's a...
