Would you buy a demo bike ?

I think if the dealer knows or trusts you, they will let you take out a demo bike unchaperoned. At least that was the case about ~10 years ago at Maranello BMW when I wanted to test ride a Multistrada trade-in they had on the floor. Salesguy peeked at the R1200GS Adventure parked outside and...

Would you buy a demo bike ?

It depends on the bike. Treat the process like you were buying a used bike and do your normal due diligence in checking everything like you would a pre-owned vehicle. Previous owners can be just as abusive and neglectful to their toys as demo-riders are.

Thinking of trading my V-Strom 650XT for the new Himalayan 450 – need your thoughts!

I chuckled a bit at this. You may not know the motley crew of characters on GTAM very well yet, but FYI, one out of every two users here owns a V-Strom. You should actually have asked:

    OBDScan - Black Friday Sale

The tools have evolved to more than just uploading a map for a tune. Today, all sorts of features are managed by the ECU. The current batch of OBD scanners can change and enable things like heated grips and auxiliary lights in the menu system of your bike's computer. They can also add or delete...

    OBDScan - Black Friday Sale

Depends on your make, model and year. These tools aren't universal. The functionality on the scan tools are bike-specific and require custom code if you want to access or program a recent model-year bike. As a result, the custom code is provided on a subscription basis if you are in the habit...

    OBDScan - Black Friday Sale

If anyone is shopping around for OBD tools to reset service lights, program keys, turn on/off options in the ECU, OBDStar is having a Black Friday sale. Depending on the model, 25-35% off. https://www.obdstarstore.com/wholesale/motorcycle-scanner/ Just picked up a Ducati scan tool for...

Is It Time to Leave the Sport? Honestly… I’m Starting to Wonder.

If you get on your bike and twist the throttle and feel no joy, then yes, perhaps it is time to leave the sport. Life is too short to feel down doing something that doesn't put a smile on your face. You've taken an informal poll on here asking if others feel the same, and most of the responses...

Is It Time to Leave the Sport? Honestly… I’m Starting to Wonder.

Sounds like you are equating motorcycling as an activity with the businesses that sell supporting products. Once you have your bike and your gear, do you really need to deal with these businesses again, other than service, if you cannot perform it yourself? You can even find an independent...

Thinking of trading my V-Strom 650XT for the new Himalayan 450 – need your thoughts!

I used the R80 on our trip across the country on the (TCAT) Trans-Canada Adventure Trail this summer. There's about two months worth of travel supplies in here, clothes, tent, camping equipment, tools and spares: Great mass centralization solution. Bags are as close to the bike as...

Pro 6 Cycle closing the storefront

Funny, the two brands you've mentioned above are the ones that are conspicuously missing from the rural areas, like where I live. Wish there was an Ape dealer near me, I'd definitely consider having at least one of their models in the garage. Closest one is four hours away. Not ideal.

Here's hoping they don't get as stretched thin as GP Bikes taking over so many speciality brands that need their own tools/machinery and certified techs.

    Prediction for `26 bike insurance.....

We get refunds here in BC. Quite regularly too - car and bikes. Have seen a lot of cheques sent from ICBC ever the last few years. Did some digging and found this: https://www.icbc.com/about-icbc/newsroom/2025-03-26-rebates I think we've seen rebates of over $2000 for our household ever...

Wet weight of 485 lbs. 10 lbs more than the Strom. 35 lbs more than the 1st gen T7, which is what made it so popular with the off-road guys. This is the thing with tech, there's an inevitable weight penalty associated with cramming all the gizmos in. Lighter is simpler is better. Nothing to...

    Daily sports car?

Nice. I'd try to keep the exterior as stock-looking as possible, but I like the updated grills and the recessed door handles. Also, pop-up headlights are such a C3 thang, I think I'd keep those in my dream build. LEDs, yes, though! Yes! That Vette Vert was pretty much the star of that show...
