I used to wear the over the knee motocross socks which were great to avoid chaffing. One pair had small treads on the sole of the sock ....like hospital socks - could walk short distances in them ...instead of hauling on the big boots each time. I used to buy socks to pad up an order for free...

I've got lots of technical poly shirts and they serve me well but soaking a cotton tee shirt is very effect because it holds the water ....the poly does not. Cotton slows the transpiration holding the water longer.
