Wow thanks for all the input. As for riding he's wanted to get his license for a long time but he's been afraid to ask us, my mate was killed in a crash 4 years ago so he definitely didn't want to bring it up after that. Just came up in conversation as he was giving me a hand working on my...
Thanks for the replies. I'll talk to him tomorrow about other bike choices. Only reason we were leaning towards a cheap 125 is the chance of it getting dropped. Since the course starts Aug 13th we can see if there's an insurance company that will accept the M1 for now until he's eligible for the M2.
Just got informed by our son that he wants a motorcycle and wants to do a road trip with some mates next summer after he graduates. He turns 25 next May and he's been driving since 16 and has a clean record. He's going to write his M1 tomorrow. Despite our apprehension we want to make sure he...
Two-thirds of Canadian voters rejected the 1950's Cons and went with a progressive candidate, the fledgling Nazi party couldn't even get a seat and Ford's riding went to Liberals. All-in-all a good day.
Sorry to hear about the rider. Used to hang out with cops. Biggest bunch of piss-tanks out there, and the culture of drinking and driving still prevails.
I'm no traffic engineer, but maybe it's to see if there's an average decrease in congestion. Eg. get the cars to the destination sooner, less cars on the road at any given time.
Glad you like them. Everything stores out of the way as well. The Quickjacks themselves can lean up against a wall, pump goes on a shelf and I hang the hoses on a hook. Takes about 5 minutes to setup after some practice.
I'd be torn between ignoring it or getting off my bike and snapping it's neck. Local guy was killed a couple of years ago when he hit a Turkey on the hwy and veered into an oncoming dump truck.
I have the Quickjack 5000EXT system. From seasonal tire changes, brake jobs to suspension, exhaust, trans/differential/engine oil changes you name it. They've paid for themselves in more ways than one.

There's an overrunning clutch on the starter. If it was anything like my old Honda twin it was basically some roller bearings on a ramp. Lack of lubrication or excessive wear in that clutch will cause the starter to disengage while in operation. You'll have to pull the starter to get a look.
