That and a little fear is what allows The Chinese Communist Party to exist.

What did you do in your garage today..?

The only thing I would do differently is to strap the walls with 1x3 or 1x4 strapping before putting up the plywood. Putting up the plywood goes a lot faster and more securely, especially when all your studs are not exactly on 16” centres, which they usually aren’t. I was less than halfway...

What did you do in your garage today..?

I did the walls in my garage with 3/4” plywood over top of existing drywall. I’ve actually done that in my last 2 garages and would do it again if I had to. They were both detached so fire rating was not required. Plywood makes it super easy to hang all your stuff on the wall and get it off the...

    Daily sports car?

My brother had a beautiful ‘72 454 4 speed. They had dropped the compression that year for emissions but it still went pretty good. All that weight of the big block up front certainly didn’t help handling. I was riding shotgun in it when we raced his buddy’s ‘66 Hemi Satellite on Kingston Rd...

    Daily sports car?

Ok GT package is basically leather seats, nicer rims and limited slip rear end I think. Just checked and the GT is $42,000 so not bad. They also have a 35th Anniversary edition for 2025 which is ruby red with beige leather interior and additional badging for another $2000 that looks real nice.

    Daily sports car?

Yes, they’re pushing $50k now with the GT package., but what isn’t. Very nice car and once you’ve had a convertible it’s pretty hard to live without one. My mom had a ‘68 Firebird convertible and I’ve loved them ever since. A word of advice though, don’t ever get a convertible with a black...

    Daily sports car?

I vaguely remember reading about those. Cosworth also supplied the drivetrain for a special edition Vega prior to that. Fun,sporty, affordable cars are almost non existent these days. The last one I think I would have considered was the Civic Si coupe although they still make a 4 door version...

    Daily sports car?

The Anniversary Edition would have been 1978 and yes the late ‘70s was a very sad time for car enthusiasts.I was in high school at the time and had a part time job as a car jockey at Budget Rent a Car and got to drive pretty much every thing North American made. To say the cars were asthmatic...

    Home and Auto

We had a very negative experience with TD Insurance. A neighbor’s tree fell on our house, damaging our metal roof, breaking trusses, breaking a window, taking down a fence etc.. It was just over a year before they even showed up to start repairs and another year to complete them. During that two...

How long does it take to pull the trigger on a bike purchase?

I research the hell out of my bike purchases and usually takes about a year of reading numerous road tests and reviews. I usually won’t buy the first year of a new model but will wait a year or two for any bugs to get ironed out. The only bike I kind of regretted buying was a 2007 Honda St1300...

How long does it take to pull the trigger on a bike purchase?

I’m pretty sure the term MILF is no longer politically correct. It’s been changed to “Yummy Mummy”.

    Motorcycle adventure riding books

This is a must read. The one thing that amazes me about this journey around the world (that took place in 1936 or thereabouts) was that he only ran out of gas once outside of Munich. He was able to push his bike to the next gas station.

    RV & Trailer Discussion

I remember when I bought my Sprinter from Durham Mercedes in 2010, I had a young, eager salesman. We were in his office doing the paperwork and he looked at me and said “ I know it’s just a work truck but underneath it’s still a Benz”. I chuckled and thought to myself , okay you can save the...

    RV & Trailer Discussion

I had a Sprinter 2500 V6 diesel van I drove for work for 12 years that I replaced with the equivalent Ford Transit V6 gas which I’ve been driving for the last 2 years so some of what I’m about to tell you is based on that.Right off the bat fuel cost was consistently 27-30% less in the...
