    Orangeville Blues and Bikes Event

Here's a couple of photos from a few years ago. The Sunday bike event seems to get larger each year. As long as the weather holds it should be a great day to come and looks at the bikes and listen to music.

The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

That's one of the reasons I refuse to drive into the City anymore. Other reasons are; the high concentration of clueless and distracted drivers, streets that are increasingly anti-car, construction closures, and political interference that actually makes driving worse. I don't care what's going...

    Strategy for fighting 3 tickets?

Man that cop must of been having a really bad day to write those three tickets. From what I see daily on the roadways it seems to me that most cops don't give a rat's ass about these sort of infractions.

    Orangeville Blues and Bikes Event

And if you're into old cars and hot rods, Friday evening is the Cruise Night for them. It's always a great way to spend a few hours wandering around looking at the cars on Friday evening and the bikes on Sunday afternoon. Free live music along the street and food vendors as well.

Motorcycle mistakes you only make once... and ones you make all the time...

Steal what, the bike or just the key? I'm not worried about anyone wanting to steal my ST because of it's age and the fact that there is 198K km showing on the clock, so not enough value for a thief. However, I would be worried that some jerk would take the key and then I couldn't ride home...

    Speed camera update (Sept.11)

I found it particularly funny the time they tossed it in the pond! That time I'm sure it took more than merely reattaching the camera to the pole. Years ago when I worked for the TTC, Parkside was a posted 50kph zone. It was my experience that traffic moved along at a speed close to that...

    Me + Open Road

Must be a work related move. Why else would anyone choose to relocate from either the Kawarthas or Sudbury. There are quite a few good bike roads down your way. Check some of the posts on here for some suggestions. I usually ride north from Orangeville when I want to relax. I worked in...

    Me + Open Road

Welcome back to riding and to GTAM. There are several threads on here that recommend good riding roads all over southern Ontario. I agree that the roads to the north are more fun because they are generally less crowded. Just how far south did you move?

Older riders or a question for the collective...

I'll be 70 this June, have a 1997 ST1100 and live in Orangeville. I've been with Aviva since 2022, but only carry liability coverage because of the age of the bike. My current policy was $610 for the year. I feel that's still a little high, but we do live close to Brampton. Up until 2021 I was...

    Canada Post - Huge losses

I've been upset about the money pit that are the CBC, CP and AC for decades. They have all been supported and enabled like addicts for far too long. It's about time to ween them off the public teet.

Do you do a pre-flight check before every ride?

Before each ride I do a quick circle check looking at the tire condition and anything that looks loose or missing. I look on the garage floor under the bike for any fluids and check the oil level in the sight glass as well. I'll check the tire pressures every couple of weeks, which is about...

    License plate renewal check

Thanks for the reminder. I had already signed up with the MTO for reminders, but checked anyway. I'm good until June 2026.

What did you do in your garage today..?

I pulled the front wheel off for a tire replacement and checked the air filter. The tire replacement has less steps and is actually easier to do than checking the air filter. I had the tire replaced at Larry's here in Orangeville. They said it would be $40 to install and balance a new...

    Helmets - Modular or Full-Face?

Hey Shane I'd be interested in your old Neotec 1. It must be newer than my aging Zox. Let me know how I can go about meeting you to arrange pick up.

    Helmets - Modular or Full-Face?

I saw those online yesterday. I looked after finding the receipt for my helmet that showed I bought it in 2010, so it's a lot older than I thought. The thing is I like helmets with graphics, like my current ZOX Genesis. BTW, it was $159 back in 2010 and I scored a 50% off scratch and save ticket...

    Helmets - Modular or Full-Face?

I prefer my modular over a full coverage helmet mostly because they are easier to get on and off my head. I also find getting my glasses on to be easier as well. I never ride with the chin bar up, but I rarely completely close the face shield. My bike has a taller windshield that directs most...

    Eating out

I've never ordered through one of those online restaurant delivery services and don't have any of the apps. I've also never used any of the grocery delivery apps, as I prefer to shop for myself and pick what I like in the store. I've heard of Lyft and Uber, but have never used them either. I...

Has anyone else been sick more than normal this winter?

I went years without coming down with anything, including Covid. Then last winter (23/24) was hit with a stomach flu bug that lasted a few days. This past winter season I had two separate flu like illnesses. I'm fairly confident that one of them came from one of our grandchildren, but the other...

The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

Shhh, don't tell anyone. That's always been my lane. Everyone is in such a hurry to move over to the left lane that it is usually empty.

    Eating out

About the only time we go to a sit down restaurant is when travelling. We used to order take-out on a weekly basis years ago but hardly ever do that anymore. It's now probably once a month, if that. It's just a convenience that has become too expensive.
