If you're buying a kennel to transport your dog make sure it is something you'd transport your children in. Some cheap PetSmart special will not do.

In our last home we had turf for the dogs, it was fantastic. Foam canon with some dawn dish soap a few times a year kept the stink away. We also used a large shop vac to pick up all the little bits (twigs, leaves etc.) And very easy to keep clear during the winter.
