    Cheapskates Corner

Burlington Restore get some choice furniture from Oakville/Burlington. You can tell when there is a change in management with pricing at times. They tag it high and then sits. Get too much stuff, they price to clear. We often make an offer and they accommodate. They see us enough to recognize...

    Cheapskates Corner

All depends on the neighbourhood! Kidding! Generally we avoid fabrics of any kind. Chairs and cabinets and the formentioned lamps and other accessories.

If it’s a neighbour I know, garage beers or something to express our gratitude is a given. Whisky or something.

    Cheapskates Corner

My wife makes me stop for orphan furniture at the curb. I’m a way back wood hound. Cedars coming out or big old maple that housed the neighborhood raccoons? Hi neighbour! What are your plans for that wood? Mind if i come back with a trailer and take a load off your hands? I believe...

    Knowing Better

The genny and snowblower are idle way longer than the mower. The garage isn’t heated. Ask a small engine shop how many units they get that won’t start or run each year and the reason why. Crap gas and not getting used. As for the hobby toys, every winter during sometime of each month, I...

    Did you exercise today?

Who are your health/fitness gurus? Saw the 60 minutes segment with Dr Peter Attia and went down a rabbit hole on some other things he’s posted. Canadian fella and seems smart.

    Not sure how i feel

As a father of daughters, they have been pillion with me often. They know what’s needed to protect themselves before swinging a leg over the seat. Previous post recommending a ride with the fella is a good one. I’ve seen my kids drive and that scares the heck out of me. They should know...

What's going on with this tire?

I’d check the strut/shock the tire was last located. The belt breaking would put the tire out of round for sure. Just wondering if it affected the suspension in some way. Pretty much every day I drive the QEW, I’ve observed a bouncy wheel from a blown strut or shock. 🤷‍♂️

    2026 Triumph Trident 800 launched

This is a case of needing two bikes. Having something like this and having something else to bring the squeeze. Or have the squeeze ride her own. Mine will never ride her own but enjoys being pillion. Maybe not for a trip to the tail of the dragon or Cabot Trail but, a burger night run.

How long does it take to pull the trigger on a bike purchase?

Dang! That is on my hit list! You likely did the ecu flash……….the cost of winter storage must be getting out of hand and need to get rid of it eh? Let me get back to you after scrolling through the liquor thread to prime my impulsive decision making……… ………and I was just day dreaming...

    Daily sports car?

Those early 90s ZR1 with a manual are a riot. I know if you compare them to modern machines it’s really not that special but, for me it had plenty of power to scare me enough and dumping the clutch to burn up those Goodyears could be an expensive endeavour. But, man it’s fun! Of to...

This thread makes me smile. With the threads we have on the go, we could form a band! Bikes, booze, band, and……..gotta keep it clean for the mods. Babes? Ballers! Anyways, carry on!

    Knowing Better

Truth be told, past years I’ve rarely winterized my stuff and never had an issue. Snowblower, lawnmower, motorcycle etc. I typically top everything up and splash in the appropriate ratio of stabilizer and call it a day. Fluids are changed before their scheduled time/mileage and typically...

    Knowing Better

Ok, so I’ve put the bike away for the winter. I know sometime during the winter, the conditions will be perfect for me to install the battery, crank it up and take it for a boot. It will be premature and will have to park it for a while. Now the tank is half full. Will I just leave the...

What did you do in your garage today..?

Oil filter and oil change, fuel top up and fuel stabilizer added. Cover is on and parked. Now the honey do list for the inside of the house begins. I’ve got some base boards to install from a room Reno from last year and a few more things to get started on. At least the garage is organized...

    2026 Triumph Trident 800 launched

A bit of overlap between the street triple and trident but, more choice is better. I prefer the traditional round headlamp over the bug eyes and I know they are much different in ride experience. The colours and profile looks great. And if you want something more practical, there is always...

Oh oh oh, I’ll start with something completely unimpressive. I have a Ferrington electric acoustic that looks similar to a Kramer. I’ve had many guitars that are worth more but, this one was given to me as a present and will never part with it. And funny enough, it isn’t good at being...

Post up your liquor/spirit talk ?

Cork or plastic top? Not that is would make a huge difference. Can you see liquid in the bottle? Hold it up to a light and look for any sediment. Even if it’s clear, it’s likely turned. You can store the stuff for several years but, it should be horizontal, in the dark and...

How long does it take to pull the trigger on a bike purchase?

I seem to be always researching and looking at all kinds of bikes. I have my preferences and watch listings, YouTube reviews and comparisons and it can be years before I obtain a given bike but, when the conditions are right, I pull the trigger pretty fast. But, I have also walked away from a...
