    World class health care

Lots of "What ifs". Co-morbidities etc. How bad was the knee before? Was it a nothing to lose situation?

Man scammed by a fake certified cheque, lost polaris slingshot

That’s the one I was referring to. Why does the victim have to get media involved before the bank takes responsibility? The clerk said it was OK. Then it bounced.

    Anyone here a cyclist?

I got out on my bike for the first time since covid and it felt good. Bar end mirrors are on the shopping list as I don't trust drivers and I don't have eyes on the back of my head. EV's are also too quiet.

Man scammed by a fake certified cheque, lost polaris slingshot

What do you trust? It's not hard to fake a certified cheque. A blurb on TV last night about a fake bank draft that was approved by the bank and then denied a few days later. A friend was offered counterfeit $20's for a buck each and he said they looked good.

    Dougie's latest plan

Nah. Let's go for broke and fix Canada Build two hydro power tunnels, one connecting Labrador to Newfoundland and the other connecting Port aux Basque to Cape Breton. Total 75 miles, the rest overland. The east coast gets taps off a bit of the power presently going through PQ. Americans get a...

    Boat Rentals

It reminds me of the Amphicar when it came out. For a fraction the money you could buy a VW Beetle and a fishing boat getting you better performance on both land and water. The VW, towing a boat, could lap the Amphicar.

    That didn’t last long

Considering the price difference between factory cost and retail, one would think that the factory price would be lower. It wouldn't. IKEA sells a shelving unit for $150.00. It might cost IKEA $20.00. If I was to go up against IKEA my materials costs would be in the in the area of $120 then I...

What is your Budget for a Bargain Find?

The bargain hunter's dilemma: He has $5000 to spend but what he really wants is a vintage (or new) bike that is worth $20K. He spends his $5000 on any old thing and then sees an absolute deal on his dream at an auction but he's $5000 short and his consolation ride is hard to sell. I had it...

    North shore of Lake Superior

The last time I did it was 2008 and it was not like Beezewood PA with masses of motels and gas stations. I was OK with the wing but a sportbike sized tank would have been different. I had to stop once while a herd of deer held a protest on the highway. Things may have changed a bit but it's more...

The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

A guy I worked with was out cruising with his GF snuggled up against him (55 Chevy, 350 SB, 4 speed) and he says he stopped at a 4 way but the cop said he didn't. If the cop has his book out and pen in hand, be polite and hope for the best. Calling him a lying AH doesn't help. Ticket #1. Cop...

    L F Quality mini lathe

I looked at a King this afternoon and it looked more polished than the others. Also 5.5 amps. About $1100 at KBC

    L F Quality mini lathe

The cheapies go around a grand or a bit more. Buddy isn't afraid to expense tools and several times more wouldn't bother him. Obviously, he doesn't want a Cadillac Cimmaron equivalent of a Harbor Freight. Doesn't need CNC. For me, I'd pay a bit more but want a bit more size and power.

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

I assume that any settlement will be paid by the city and therefore taxpayer. I'm not sure if city insurance would cover it if it was a crime. It's hard to get insurance for a crime. For it to be a crime the police would have to lay charges. sigh.

    L F Quality mini lathe

I, along with a friend, am looking for a mini lathe better than the Busy Bee, HF, PA ones. My BB one is ok for hobby stuff but still a PITA. My friend needs one on his service van and while I could go up a size to get better quality, he doesn't have that option. I've lost the link to a...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

I'm a Moen fan, always getting good value. The second last kitchen faucet I put in was supposed to be Moen but the plumbing guy at HD pushed me into an American Standard. Almost immediately it started having a thump when turned on so I called their 1-800 number. When a techie answered, all I...

    Dealers and Trust

A lady I knew was with her hubby and son, circa 1970, looking at a Mustang the salesman said had an eight-cylinder engine. They pop the hood and she says it's only a six and points to the six battery caps. Face palms X 3.

    Anyone into gardening here?

Whatever you do, do not rake up the blossoms and leave them in a garbage pail that will get water in it. They will rot and smell like pig chit. We put them out for collection and they smelled so bad the garbage men wouldn't take them. I had to bury them in the garden.
