I'm in the same situation as you. Took a long hiatus and this year decided to hop back on. Admittedly it does feel like I'm a complete noob again but I'm getting there!!!

Actually, I've a couple of times I've been stuck where there isn't anywhere else to get what I needed so I called the company and explained to them the UPS fees we get hit with and in a few instances they were nice enough to ship USPS...

Yeah, I wouldn't try it. In Cali they're used to bikes zipping up between the lanes... Actually it's illegal for a car to interfere with a bike splitting lanes and its a hefty fine if you do. However here in the land of spaced out car drivers, I wouldn't even attempt it.
