New bike breakin - a curiousity

A few years back there was that story about the guy who rode from Key West to Alaska and back on a brand new CBR 125. Red lined most of the way with no issues whatsoever.

    Surprise on an On Ramp

Just a hi-viz stripe. Reminds me of something I read somewhere that sounded like good advice: Don't ride (street) at more than 80% of your skill level. If s#*t goes down, you may need to pull that other 20% to stay safe.

    Surprise on an On Ramp

Got out of work at 4:15 am, onto the bike and onto the hwy. I was doing a fair clip on the on a poorly lit on ramp, when a pretty fresh roadkill skunk appeared from under the car in front of me right in my path. Options were to lean in more to get around it on the inside; risking a slide if I...

    Soon to be rider

Back when I did the M1x course, a guy there invited his family to the last day / test to show them what he learned. Seemed to work to get the approval of his parents.

New Rider / Excited to finally be able to ride.

Stunning bike. Maybe practicing on side streets and empty parking lots will help keep it that way and repair your confidence in the process. Go over the drills you did in your riders ed course.

To The Must Wear Gear All the Time Folks

I would think that if you're into gear, you can see that a slide from 60 km/h (top speed on a decent 50 cc scoot) is very similar regardless of being on a scoot, 125cc bike, or litre bike. If you're not into gear, you don't care either way. A scoot might offer better protection to your lower...

    Michelin Pilot Road 4's

Mine have 5/32 left on the front, and 6/32 left on the rear at 8000 km. Can't find the info on the original tread depth, but wouldn't think it would be much more than about 8/32. No squaring that I can see without looking pretty closely.

What bike do you want today?

With winter on it's way, a Ural it would be! Would love to have a winter ride!

    Michelin Pilot Road 4's

I was looking for something more aggressive, such as the Conti Escape or Heidenau K60 Scout, but they don't come in my size, 120 17 and 160 or 170 17. I may end up going with PR4 or the Trail attack2 again. Two sets of Conti tires, the Motion and the Trail Attack2 have been brilliant for...

    First time need tips scooter.

E-bike is the only thing you can ride without insurance etc. Don't know much about them, but I've heard that a good one is well over $1000. If this is the way you want to go, you will be hated by everyone who you are sharing the road / sidewalk / bike path with. They go about 30 km / hr, so will...

Stupidly overpriced motorcycle for sale thread

Wow, why buy new when you can get used for the same price: http://www.kijiji.ca/v-sport-touring/kitchener-waterloo/2007-kawasaki-versys-650-twin/1012701631?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true Seems to be looking for 2x the value of farkles (unless said farkles are encrusted with diamonds).

Sihks must wear helmets in Ontario

Rights are legal, social, or ethical principles of freedom or entitlement; that is, rights are the fundamental normative rules about what is allowed of people or owed to people, according to some legal system, social convention, or ethical theory.[1] Rights are of essential importance in such...

Sihks must wear helmets in Ontario

Well, it seems that we have the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms from the Constitution, the Canadian Human Rights Act, and probably a few other bits and pieces of legislation that guarantee certain "rights". Pretty sure motorcycles aren't covered under any of these documents, but I'm just...
