    West Coast Road, Vancouver Island

As an update to this thread. My father passed away yesterday morning. In an effort to distract myself, I rented a bike in Victoria, BC, CB500FA, and had as much fun as prudence allowed. The cost of the bike rental was probably cheaper than therapy, and more productive. Miss you Dad!

    Got my first ticket...

Count yourself lucky. I never managed to get a ticket on my first crotch rocket. Maybe it would have slowed me down. Instead, I crashed badly at 200km+, when I was 18. Young, stupid, completely my fault. Figured I knew it all, since I grew up on dirt bikes. Slotted a high speed pass trying...

    West Coast Road, Vancouver Island

So, I find myself on the south end of Vancouver Island. My father has fallen ill, with terminal lung cancer, and I am out here to help take care of him. I've got to say that the West Coast Road (Juan de Fuca Hwy) is probably the nicest piece of riding road that I have l laid eyes on. You...

    Where did you ride today?

From the end of the driveway, back into the garage. :sad11: Testing the friction zone, after new friction plates and springs. Managed to squeeze in the job before dinner. :p 1/2 turn of the handlebar clutch adjuster and it was perfect. Too bad the weather doesn't look like it will cooperate...

Left hand turn, yellow light question

About 25 years ago, friend of mine was waiting to make a left at a yellow, on a 2 lane road. Oncoming traffic, did not have a turn lane, either left or right. Posted speed for the area was 60km/h Light turned red, car in oncoming traffic lane stopped, so he went to complete the left turn...

    Wind Mobile Opinions Wanted

I tried out Wind a couple of years ago, for 3 phones, for wife, and 2 oldest kids, after a billing debacle with Rogers (long story). Work pays for my cell, with Bell. I decided to go with Wind, primarily for the unlimited data sales pitch. In my driveway, full bars on Wind Network. In my...

    TD Insurance

Daughter has decided that she wants to become a police officer. She thought that having her M license would be a good thing, to have on the CV. Not to mention that she has been riding on the back, since she could reach the pegs, so its something she enjoys anyway. Wifey has always talked...

    TD Insurance

Last week, added a 2006 Virago 250 for my wife, and then later in the week, switched from my 1980 honda to a 2008 Suzuki Marauder 250. Both bikes, TD quote was comparable to other prices. Both times, received my documents by email before the phone call ended. No mention of any form to fill...

Would you buy a bike that was used as a trainer?

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Wife and daughter are looking forward to taking the MSF course, and getting out on the road. They are having a blast at the local school parking lot. Took the bike out, on the 410 earlier this week. Definitely some clutch slippage at traffic flow speeds, in...

TD told me that they would honour the course certificate for my wife and daughter. I just have to send them copies.

hairline crack under oil plug - 1982 honda cm450e engine

Thanks for the find Bitzz. Will reach out. However, wifey and my 21 year old daughter felt that the bike was too tall for them, so I decided to shelve it, for a future project. They both wrote their M1's last week, MFC course in 2 weeks. So, this week there is a 2006 Yamaha Virago 250, and...

hairline crack under oil plug - 1982 honda cm450e engine

Having one of those days. Over tightened the oil plug, heard a distinct crack. Just plain stupid on my part. Took a look, everything looked fine. Added a bit of oil, and there is a distinct hairline crack, under the oil plug oil, for the length of the threads. Can anyone recommend a welder...

    Question regarding motorcycle insurance.

You have 6 days to register your valid, stickered plates moved from the old bike with the ministry on the new bike. I'm pretty sure, as long as you have valid insurance, you can ride the bike to get the safety done, with the plates from the old bike. Unless the bill of sale is from more than 6...

Would you buy a bike that was used as a trainer?

Thanks for all of the feedback everyone! Negotiated a price that worked for me. So went ahead with the deal. Arranged to pick it up. But by the time I get there, its dark. Tank was more than 1/4 full, so I figure I'm good for the short 15 minute ride home. About 2 min into the ride, maybe...

Would you buy a bike that was used as a trainer?

Thanks for the feedback. Appreciate it. Any thoughts on the 4 year gap, from model year, 2006, to first registration by Humber in 2010?

Would you buy a bike that was used as a trainer?

Went and kicked the tires of a '06 Virago 250 last night with wife, looking for something for her to start her riding career on. Engine sounded good, clutch was fine. Felt a little bit of exhaust leak from the lower muffler joint. Couple of little scratches and dings, here and there, but what...

Long time Rider from Brampton, new to the forum

Hello Everyone, Had my M license for close to 30 years, but the last few, I'm lucky to get out for a couple of rides a year. Currently have a 1980 CB400T. Wifey and daughter recently decided to get their license. So, I decided that it might be a good time to see if there are any groups in the...
