I can add extra layers to keep warm but my gloves and boots are both vented, so my hands and feet get cold pretty quickly. That said, I'm usually riding in warm weather, so it's not much of an issue normally.
This thread is good for me... I'm in London, on a Ninja 250 right now, but I'm interested in getting a dual sport. If there are some places to ride nearby that would make it a pretty easy decision.

I wouldn't do it on a bike, it might just piss the person off more. If someone's tailgating me I give myself lots of room in front, which sometimes works for whatever reason, or worst case I just turn off and get away from them. YMMV

I'm pretty sure RoadcraftNottingham on youtube uses one of those. I think he talks about it at one point. He's an instructor and makes some good safety-conscious videos so it's probably pretty decent. If you check his videos you'll see it in action, IIRC..
Interesting, I'm having the same issue with my 250, almost identical to you. Looking on cycle ergo it looks like knee bend is pretty much the same on the 650 as the 250, but the 650 is more upright and has a more relaxed hip bend angle. I thought the knee bend angle would be the major thing...
