i experienced this first hand. i had an EPS foam mountain bike helmet. fell once, the back of the helmet hit. didn't really feel any pain. a few weeks later, fell again on the same spot with the same helmet, and i got knocked out for a few seconds.
no need to generalize nor assume. sry to hear about ur uncle and aunt. but i hope u didn't take this thread personal. because before making this thread, there's no way for me to know that's what happened to you. and like i already said, i dont intend on doing such thing.
ok, sometimes people "thought" the way was clear but it actually was not. but what if, a person "thought" the way is clear, and in reality, the way IS clear... how about that?
what i meant was, if the corner REALLY is like that. what if u can clearly see for at least a few hundred meters that there isn't a car coming, and there aren't any hidden driveways.
c'mon, i'm sure many of u have done it. lol.
hogging left lane is technically illegal. many people do it and piss off people behind trying to pass.
going 10kph over the limit is illegal. everyone does it on a daily basis.
cross double yellow when no cars are coming the opposite way. no one...
so let's say u r at this corner. u want to corner a little faster so u need to cross double yellow into the oncoming lane to apex the corner. normally u would not but since u can clearly see there are no one coming in the opposite way. would it be alright to do it?
sometimes u hear a guy brake hard but instead of tucking the front the bike endos thus going down. at first i thought ABS would prevent this but then i see these stoppie videos and the front wheel never locks, so ABS would never kick in.
so yeah... wut do u think?
oh yeah regarding how the racers take it easy in the first few laps cuz of cold tires, why don't they have 6 guys with heat guns heating up the tires right below it's melting point before the race?
this would surely give the racer a "traction" advantage, no? lol
speaking of braking. in motogp when a racer brakes his rear tire is barely touching the ground. meaning 100% front brakes. is that really the best way to brake? just wondering...
might not work for everyone in every situation, but anyone remember back in 07 or 08, a gixx 750 rider did that when a minivan turned left in front of him. he walked away fine. i met him at parkview bmw, apparently he's a sales guy there. and he told me the tale. there's a pictures of this bike...
