KX250s are awesome on the track and on the trail. The KTMs and Huskies are definitely nicer but waaaay more high maintainance. I guess that all depends on how your ride them though. You could always get a KLX250 and join me on some good dual sport rides! :)
Yeah that was a pretty intense storm. I'm up in Barrie. A buddy and I waited it out in his garage, then when it stopped we drove out to Craighurst to do some trail riding in the mud. God I love my KLR :)
I had a chance to borrow a Liquid Image goggle cam from work. Took it for a little offroading and managed to break my luggage rack and rear fender. Teaches me to cheap out on the mounts.

Hey guys, I'm planning on doing a ride up to Swift Rapids either Monday or Tuesday (6th or 7th) of next week. I'll be leaving from Barrie, riding up Ridge Road to avoid the garbage that is hwy11, then making my way past Orillia and up to the service roads. If anyone's interested in joining...
I havn't checked in a couple weeks, but last I saw it was still pretty bad. I'm hopefully going to check it out next week sometime. If I do, I'll post an update.
Just watched part one of Che. Awesome performance by Benicio Del Toro. Seems fairly honest and doesn't glorify the Cuban revolution more than it needs to. Fantastic visuals as well. Makes me wish I could speak Spanish, but I don't mind subtitles.
I jus switched from amsoil to rotella t 15w40 diesel oil and the pig loves it. Haven't tried the synthetic yet, but everyone on the klr forums swears by this stuff! Bought 5l at Wally World for $25!
What he said.
Also, don't start too big, but don't get something you'll get bored with too quickly. You can always ride a fast bike slow, but it's downright scary trying to ride a slow bike fast! :P
You should have no problem if you want to repaint your plastics. You'll be sanding them down so the paint sticks anyways. If you're worried about it for now, I've heard of people heating up their plastics with a hair dryer, then polishing them to get light scratches out. I'd do some reading...
A lot of modern textiles are great, I just personally trust leather a bit more. I'd say as long as you're wearing some of protective gear, and not riding like an asshat, you're no squid in my books.
Hey there. I've got a pair of men's Joe Rocket Alter Ego Textile pants for sale. 100% waterproof, full knee pads, zips into jacket and has a zip away section for better a/c where it counts. I paid $180 for them just last year, but had a few too many cheeseburgers over the winter. Selling them...
I bought a $500 fxr leather jacket on clearance from royal last year for like $200. Other than the crappy zippers it's been great so far! Oh.. And the fact that I look like a power ranger on a dirtbike! :P I'd go with leather.. It may be a bit heavier but I'd rather deal with a bit of extra...
Thanks guys! I'm looking forward to riding and discussing all things motorcycle with you all! I hope there are some other Barrie area dual sport riders here as well! :)
