My first "big" ride will be the 1 hour-ish run from Hamilton to Port Dover on Saturday to get one of my tattoos touched-up. I am going to pack as if I'm taking a longer trip to see how she handles with a full trunk and seat storage.
After all these years of riding, and many thousands of km's under my belt, I am slowly heading back to where I started: on two small wheels and smaller CC's. There's a real pleasure to be had in pushing a smaller displacement motorcycle/scooter to it's limits and still enjoy the benefits of...
I like to try different things. The scooter purchase was to fill a sentimental void left after I sold my Yamaha Riva 180 (171cc) scooter back in 1988. I loved that thing.
I am planning on an FJR1300 as my next main set of wheels. Waiting for prices to go down, perhaps over the winter.
Let me...
I finally caved in to my desire to own another scooter, and just purchased an SMAX. I also got a SHAD topbox and a cheap Magellan GPS... now to find some like minded riders and some some interesting destinations.
Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?
Thanks. I also have another custom made rifle getting an expensive case colour hardening job. Everybody has to have at least one walnut stocked and custom finished rifle in their collection. :)
Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?
I own a Tikka T3 Battue in 30-06, with...
Leupold VX-R 1.25-4x20 (30mm) scope
MaSi QD mount
Lumley Arms titanium bolt handle and carbon fibre bolt knob
Lumley Arms 4140 ordnance steel shroud (QPQ nitrided black)
extra 5-round magazine
all metal parts...
Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?
Um, yeah, it's called remove target, walk target over to back table, photograph target. Are you questioning my honesty? :)
Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?
It also doesn't hurt to have a well made firearm. I posted this 2-shot group using Challenger rifled slugs at 25 metres -- the first two shots ever fired from the gun: a Brno model 802, 30-06 over 12 gauge.
A bit of crackle and pop is sometimes normal. Remember, the factory bazookas often mask that sound. Richening up the mixture to the point of completely eliminating the popping sound can cause a drop in performance (and f'ing around with carbs opens up a whole new can of worms). I would have an...
I am curious as to what you "air cooled" guys are paying for insurance. I am 44, riding since 1987, full coverage with Intact insurance... and I am paying $940 per year.
I feel as though I am getting gouged for a motorcycle that is neither a sport bike (power) or a cruiser (heavy, expensive)...
I remember my 2008 KLR650 running pretty hot like that. I wouldn't sweat it. Check the oil, let it break-in and see if it comes down. One thing to note is that those gauges aren't particularly accurate or consistent. If you're really worried, install a real temperature gauge.
What do you expect? Walnut veneer and brass knobs? lol
Congrats on the 100K milestone. I would love to own a motorcycle long enough to reach that point. Perhaps with my current Nighthawk.
