    Thinking of scootering

I started with a Vino 125 and it was a great starter scoot. 5K+ a year almost indestructible At 175 lbs. it was a struggle for me to get it over 90 kph on the flat. Depending on your camping gear (mine is approx 85l.) Algonquin Park and plenty of other Prov. Park are in range for a weekend trip.

Touring tips - the little things

CAA plus will not cover towing your M/C in Pennsylvania through AAA. Learned that from bitter experience. CAA did reimbuse my tow but it wasn't from AAA. M/C towing is provided if you have RV coverage. Same applies for New York.

    Gps iphone app please advise

TTS is enable with the paid version of Co-Pilot. Voice navigation is a recent add-on with an annual fee. The Text to Speech (TTS) voices are limited but adequate. TTS voice on Iphone/Ipad is better than TTS voices available on Android.

    Best Suzuki dealership?

Had the rectifier recall done on my ride a couple of weeks ago. Called Snow City and make arrangements for them to get the part in and call me when I could bring in the bike for the repair. Was in and out in 90 minutes.

    Gps iphone app please advise

Co-pilot, free unless you want voice directions then its $13. Works well with my Iphone 4s and Sena. Doesn't need a data plan or cell coverage to work. Maps are as good as Garmin, Tom-Tom and Google. Cons - doesn't search using Canada postal code, searching U.S. address requires you change to...

    CAA Motorcycle towing - Question

I've had CAA tow me about 5 times in the past 10 years. I've notified CAA it was a motorcycle and they always sent a flatbed to do the tow. None of the towing operators checked for a plate on the bike nor did they ask to see my CAA card. It could be I have an honest face.

    Canada -Wide Cannonball 500 / Cannonball 1000 June 11th, 12th - 2016

Has anyone submitted the paperwork required by the Iron Butt Assoc. after doing the CB500? I haven't seen any mention on their website recognizing the 500 as a ride for which they would issue a certificate.

    Retractable Motorcycle Cover

I have one of the Original RideInn. The newer model is a couple of inches shorter than the original and rubs against my top case. I've gone through 3 covers in ten years and I won't be replacing again. I use it year round and sun exposure is hard on the cover.

    Historic planes in GTA

I gave the grey cells a nudge and remember two others: CF-5 Freedom Fighter at Yukon and Sheppard Downsview at DCIEM. A/C is behind a fence on grass and may not be approachable. CT-133 Silver Star in Creemore near the Legion. Asphalt around and you should be able to get your bike as close or...

    Sena 20 versus Sena 10

I recently purchased a second SMH-10. Battery time on original (2+ yrs old) decreased to 7 hours from the normal 12 hrs. The 12 hr rating is accurate for listening to music and having the intercom on. Incoming phone calls are clear. No dropouts unless I'm more the 7 metres from the phone (iphone...

    Headsets or not???

The Sena SMH-10 will last at least 10 hrs. on a single charge. The Sena will operate while it is being charged. I've use portable power pack to power the Sena on those 16 hrs. days or when I've forgotten or couldn't charge overnight. My SMH-10 is equipped with the earphone clamp and I have the...

I'm considering the GP3 and want to use it as a dash cam when not in use on the bike. Will the GP3 record while being charged? Battery power isn't enough for my needs.

Things you wished a motorcycle course taught

Now you've done it. You have found one of my pet peeves. What I would have liked to see on the M1 exit course that I took would be better instruction! The instruction was geared to passing the test set down by MTO. The skill set that MTO sets down for M1 exit isn't extensive enough to safely...

gps route planning/ waypoints program on a Mac computer?

Yes, I lay out the entire route then take the link from Google Maps and let GPSVisualizer do its voodoo and save as a .GPX file which I copy to the Nuvi. There is an option to paste your data (name, description, lat, long) into gpsvisualizer and it will do the conversion to .GPX. Similar...

    Garmin MapSource .GPX file

I wish you had posted this two years ago. It would have saved me a hellva lot of time doing it myself. Thought I had ridden most of the routes now I have another batch to ride next season. Great job. Thanks
