I would imagine it was your cable. Likely clutch was dragging and when everything warmed up it got worse. Follow the adjustment procedure in the service manual.
A few possible causes:
1. Stretched cable preventing clutch from being fully disengaged when pulled in.
2. Wrong oil causing clutch...
If you are thinking quads my take is to get a 2 wheel drive sport quad, the raptor 700 is excellent. I have ridden a few big bore 4x4's such as the renegade 800 and they all feel a bit too heavy and difficult to handle.
I imagine the single track at the Ganny is very nice, however we did find...
While I think the others are on to something recommending you register your current bike.
I used to own a Raptor 660R and have ridden a few raptor 700s.
The 660 I owned was great at the Ganny and gopher dunes had lots of fun and would recommend a quad to anyone.
Basically had to let it go...
The valve check suggestion has promise poorly adjusted or badly out of spec valves on a four stroke single are definitely a cause for hard starting.
As others have suggested the engine must breath properly to start.
You can also richen the mixture by further air restriction. I have done this...
I would speak to reputable machine shops. They typically can work wonders. A shop local to my home town has saved me a few times, once from a driveshaft replacement as they rebuilt threads I stripped while removing a center bearing and second by straightening a axle on my 4 wheeler.
Good luck...
This all seems a little extreme. I think you need to check everything over.
1. Confirm spark ( I think this is covered already as you stated it has spark)
2. Not familiar with the bike but I assume it is electric start. If so confirm a full charge on the battery or use a known good battery. My...
What about a Ninja 650/er6n or Versys. More power than the 300 but should have better insurance rates than the SS.
I think a 07 could be had at the upper end of the mentioned budget.
It was my understanding on the front you can place the hose on the bleeder screw. Open the reservoir and then just open the bleeder; will this not just gravity feed? Then just keep roping the reservoir until you see clean fluid in the hose?
The rear brake requires the pump and release...
Just wanted to check. If you have a water softener I beleive you should make sure you are getting a supply line that is not softened water if you plan on regularity drinking the water that is.
Heated grips, cheap and help considerably, at least on my snowmobile. Also a "dickey" or whatever those half turtle neck things are, close up the gap on you neck and make a big difference for little coin.
You may be able to clean the seal. You can search seal mate and determine if the product has the potential to work for you. I have also seen seals dry up over the winter months if stored in a non ideal location. I have seen this addressed with standard forks by soaking a cloth in fork oil and...
A friend of mine purchased, spent a evening riding. I basically think the engine and chassis are fantastic but the suspension with a 240lbs rider was awful.
That being said I would purchase in a heartbeat if I could get inexpensive insurance quotes. I think the suspension can easily be fixed...
