For the reason that you are a new rider, i believe getting the ABS would be a smart decision. I've been riding for a few years and purchased my cbr1000 without abs. Honda is normally pretty up to date with their technology, however i believe dropped the ball with their ABS module. Believe it...

I'm 25, and ride 09 Cbr 1000, (Repsol u/k if makes a diff) I've only got a 15 over ticket which I got back in 2004. The premiums with state farm are goin up! I went from $108 a month to $137!!!
