Not new to the forum but new bike owner

Hi GTAM, I've posted to the forum before but now that I officially own a motorcycle I thought I'd introduce myself again! Just bought a Virago 250 from a fellow forum member and am ready to ride this season. Thornhill area fyi. Thanks! Michael

    WTB: pre 2007 Ninja 250 - $2200~

Hi GTAM Members, I am looking to purchase a previous gen Ninja 250, years 2007 and earlier. I think the bike itself is reasonable at $2000, but would prefer it safetied and delivered, so am willing to pay $100 more for each of these. Cosmetically, small scratches and stuff are fine, but...

    Motorcycle show

Thought I'd give my perspective on the show as someone new to motorcycling but has only taken the safety course so far, not yet having bought the bike or most of the gear (waiting until March or so to allow for test rides). Overall I enjoyed it. I got to sit on a lot of bikes that would take far...

Anywhere I can get insurance for just 1 or 2 months at a time?

Called TD and got a resolution. Would only pay $51 for the next few months based on their seasonal pricing, and then the 12 month quote would kick in during February. Thanks for the help Jimsun.

Anywhere I can get insurance for just 1 or 2 months at a time?

Didn't know that was possible. Would it involve paying the whole fee upfront? Thanks for the tip.

Anywhere I can get insurance for just 1 or 2 months at a time?

I'm deciding whether to buy my first bike and ride for the next month or so. 23 years old, have M1, taking the safety this weekend, G with 5 or 6 years of experience, no tickets. TD quote is fine for the bikes I'm looking at, 125 and 250s, but only do a full year. I feel silly paying Jan through...

Potential new rider with some questions

I was hoping to solicit some opinions but didn't want to start a new thread. Basically, 250cc cruiser (think Honda Rebel, V-Star/Virago 250, etc) vs the CBR125. These seem to be the best deals on the used market right now so I'm leaning towards one of them as a first bike. Which would be the...

New rider, couldn't wait till next season

If you don't mind me asking, who are you insured with? And is this a cheap winter rate, or also what you expect to pay next summer. Thanks.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to bring along stuff in the car just to have those options.

Places to buy helmets in GTA/Mississauga/Etobicoke

Thanks Jimsun. My concern is the fit, and the timing is a bit tight, so its preferable for me to be able to try it on and buy it then. Thanks for the recommendations Mina.

Places to buy helmets in GTA/Mississauga/Etobicoke

I am taking the M1X next weekend (RTI East North York)and need to purchase a helmet before then. I've looked at the sticky on the Dealers forum but many of the sites are outdated or do not list their helmets. I am looking to spend around $150 (the HJC Cl-16 seems like good value) for a full face...

Potential new rider with some questions

Just to update everyone I got my M1 today and also booked the M1X with RTI (East North York next weekend if anyone else is going to be there). The cold also seems to have spurred on more used bike postings as well, I'm hoping to pick one up after my M1X. Thanks to everyone who shared their...

Potential new rider with some questions

I agree that prices do seem to be coming down, though I feel the frequency of new starter bikes going up has decreased. I looked into motorsoul and it seems great, but its tough for me to get to Queens Quay for those morning sessions, where as RTI's location is a bit more convenient for me.

Thats what I was thinking too blinky, RTI has some pretty late weekend lessons. Hoping to take the M1 this week.

Potential new rider with some questions

Thanks for the input. Didn't think about students trying to unload their rides, I'll keep an eye on the market over the next month. A smaller bike like the ones I'm looking for we should be able to find space in the garage so even storage isn't a huge deal.

I'm at Dufferin and Center, so pretty close. Thanks for the advice :) Thanks for replying BuddyB and HellBoy, I was actually thinking of RTI since its a bit closer to me, and will allow me to try different bikes, but for sure I'm thinking of writing my M1 very soon now.
