Have you checked the relay? Probably under the seat somewhere, with the other (headlamp, indicator, etc.) relays.

What about heat shielding? A) Was there any? B) If yes, was it the good stuff or the cheap foam? Their price for a full kit is cheaper than a respray and my paint is getting pretty chipped, scuffed and scratched.
