South East or South West next summer?

I've been to Colorado and Utah this year it was surreal, you will never find that experience on the East Coast! That area is so reach in natural wonders that you will want to go back again and again. We had 10 days for this trip, it took us one day to get to Denver, one day to get back which...

    trailering to USA

I always look up for an secure outdoor storage facility (like this one: http://www.adamscountyselfstorage.com/) where I can leave my car and trailer and arrange with them for storage before I leave. This way I save on time and have peace of mind. Price is usually $30-$60.

Quit our jobs, sold our home and everything in it, gone riding...

+1000 Went there in August with a friend, two bikes on a trailer rented from http://www.sportrentals.ca, taking turns at driving. We were in Denver in less than 24 hours, relatively well rested. Spent the next 8 day at a leisury pace through Colorado and Utah. Another 24 hours and we were...

Home internet provider - what's a good alternative to Robbers ?

I'm with Acanac since 2009. Reliable, cheap (~450/year tax included), no cap, 500K real life DL speed. Don't know about customer service because I never used it.

Trailering bike to Florida for winter riding

I've done this in 2010, left the car and trailer at Daytona Beach and ended up riding to Key West and back. Take the previous comments regarding how boring is riding in Florida with a grain of salt: there are lots of entertaining roads there, topping with the Overseas Highway to Key West...

    picking a cruiser displacement question

1100cc is fine for almost all situations, had no problem keeping up with traffic at 120km/h on I70, at 3000m elevation, with heavy touring luggage and a windscreen. However, the bike is far slower than a 6500cc naked inline 4 that I had before, if you are used to pass slower cars in no time then...

Camping with the bike, what do you bring and other tips?

If you are a light sleeper, try to avoid campgrounds that are too close to a busy highway (unfortunately KOAs tend to be). In a tent, at night, those cars and trucks passing by can be really loud.

West Coast Trip - On Both Sides Of The Border

You don't know how boring is until you've seen it by night . My "secret" is to trailer the bike. Drove a minivan with a friend and we took turns driving it, got to Denver in less than 24 hours, relatively well rested. We had only 10 days of vacation and this way we could affort to stay 8...

West Coast Trip - On Both Sides Of The Border

We left Moab UT exactly one week ago at 7am, arrived at Oakville the next day at 7pm. I remember seeing an exit toward Gothenburg on I-80.

CNN: Best Motorcycle Roads - Have you been there?

Here is an article from cnn.com, on which roads have you been so far? http://www.cnn.com/2012/06/12/travel/best-motorcycle-roads/index.html?hpt=hp_c2 A great road is a great road, but if you're riding a motorcycle, you're looking for something special: twisties, vistas, turnouts, that...

    iPhone Mapping App Recommendations

I purchased Tom-Tom iPhone app for my last trip to Florida to compare it / replace my Garmin. It's pretty good although a bit pricey (~$60), but after that trip never went back to Garmin. Learning the interface after Garmin was a bit difficult, but there were also features that I liked.

Need help budgeting for road trip

You can save time and money on accomodation (hotels) if you have access to internet on the road (iPhone, tablet, Wi-Fi, Mi-Fi) and use Hotwire.com or other means. Camping at the State Parks is cheaper than at private campgrounds (~$20/night). As mentioned before, accomodation at Key West is very...

    Low mileage vs late model

Your brother is looking more for reassurance than advice :-). Understand that it's a bit late to ask for advice, it was more like checking other opinions, pros and cons that I might have overlooked. I bought a 2008 VW Passat Wagon 2.0T 6spd with 142K. I would like to get 5-6 years out of this...

    Low mileage vs late model

Given a fixed budget for an used car, for the same price, what would you choose, a late model with high mileage or an older model with low mileage? In my case it was the first.

    Vstar 650 vs 1100

+1 The 1100 is a heavy bike to learn to ride, but so is the 650, the difference between the two is only about 30kgs. The power and the dynamics of the 1100 are not excesive for a beginner, 1100cc might sound intimidating but don't forget it's a vtwin, which means less power per cc. My first...

    Milton - Vancouver on R6 - July 2012

Gillette, Buffalo, Greybull are all fairly large towns (for Wyoming). Greybull has a very good KOA where I stayed for one night, but my rest was ruined by heavy activity at the nearby train yard. Finding accomodation in Wyoming (especially when camping is an option) was easy, the only place...
