Tank slapper - again... getting pretty ****** off now..

There are many possible causes of a tank slapper. Worn swing arm bearings, incorrectly adjusted steering stem bearings, mis-matched or under inflated tires to name a few. "Captain America" of Easy Rider fame was heavily raked and yet the steering was so unstable that it was almost impossible to...

    sliding in the rain?

It's all experience. You made a small mistake and recovered without incident. Well done. Learn from it and progress. Don't listen to the a holes that run you down. I've been riding for close to 50 years and once in a while during an emergency situation in the wet you grab the brakes and the...

    Does Riding Get Repetitive?

I find that riding a motorcycle is like drinking beer. It's horrible and I'll be glad when I've had enough :D 49 years and counting and last year some one remarked that I sure do grin a lot when I'm riding my Rocket.

    Fork swap problem

This is a common set up. If you look at the non threaded fork leg you will see that it has a small slit at the bottom and provision for a bolt to pinch it tight on the shaft. Install the axle shaft and tighten it to spec with the correct spacers in. Pump the forks to align the legs and tighten...

    Broken spark plug

The thing with torque, and the point of that tech bulletin is that most of the force (torque) is friction between the mating surfaces on the thread and the gasket faces. If you reduce the friction by applying anti-seize it is quite possible to over tighten to the point of breaking the plug even...

I see sun!! Oops nope still cold :(

I just checked some photos I took on a ride last year. Hot and sunny with no sign of ice on Lake Simcoe. Dated March 20th. Today it is still solid ice! Fingers crossed it will get warm one day but this is normal and we were spoiled last year by unusually warm Spring weather.

    Too old to ride?

I just picked up a set of footboards yesterday as I found my feet get cramped on 700 mile days on my Rocket with pegs. Glad I can still ride as I was very sick a few years ago and almost died. Now I take nothing for granted and enjoy every day. I'll be 66 in a few weeks and have a few miles left...
