I would say based on the responses the OP has received, you are in the minority. There is nothing wrong with asking others to share their experiences. It goes without saying that when all is said and done, they will have to work things about between themselves.
Good luck, OP!
OP, these are the kinds of statements (and riders) to ignore. There is nothing factual about it. It's an opinion. There is no "perfect" starter bike. Ride what you are comfortable riding. I've owned a CBR125 (and it certainly took me up hills in Grimsby, no problem). I now ride a 250 ZZR.
Welcome back! Always nice to be home, safe and sound. Thanks for the posting the pictures. A friend of mine just went through NC last week; Rode The Dragon too. He'll be riding around the US for approximately four weeks. What types of motorcycles were you all riding? I'm thinking a sport...
I had to smile to myself when I read your post. I remember those days oh so well! I don't believe I shifted during the course. I would just ease up on the throttle to slow down. It was too scary to attempt shifting. I think I was more afraid of doing something bad to the bike, more than...
I can't count how many times I've seen it written on this forum that lower displacement motorcycles are more forgiving. The bottom line is, a new rider can choose to ride whatever he/she wants to. We are all different, with different riding skills. Some more natural than others. But, I will...
That may have been the case for you.
But, I would rather see a new rider "waste time and energy with the buying and reselling", gain some experience on a lower displacement motorcycle. Than, starting off on a larger displacement motorcycle and not living to have an opportunity to waste that...
First, if you haven't taken the course, do that at least. I've owned and ridden a CBR125. I now ride a Kawasaki 250 ZZR. Don't be bullied into starting on something you are not ready for. The 125 and 250 are great starter bikes, and safe. Also, you will probably be told that you will...
For me, it's a personal choice. I feel more comfortable, and in control, if I'm able to be flat-footed when sitting on a motorcycle. I would not buy/ride a motorcycle if I can't be. Again, a personal choice.
My favourite line from the movie 'Something New' is this:
"Everyday I'm reminded I'm Black. The only time you know you're White, is when you're in a room full of Black people".
This, my friends, is a fact and a reality.
Racism is alive and well in Canada. To believe or think otherwise is...
