    Leaking oil from drain bolt

+1. A helicoil won't help unless you remove enough material to eliminate the crack. If a replacement pan is not available, one could attempt to go oversize on the drain plug and tap new threads in the pan to match the oversize plug. Shopping around for your parts can pay dividends...

    1969 Honda CT90

The doctor ships FedEX or UPS, the king of brokerage fees. Lately communication hasn`t been what it could be either. Check with your local Honda dealer or North East Vintage Cycle (Just outside Buffalo) for repop and or NOS.

    1969 Honda CT90

http://ct90-ct110.com/1969454545Trail45904539K1.html Pretty well covers it. 5-6HP maybe, 4 speed semi auto with 2 ranges. Can run 117cc bore kit (double stock HP), CA200 clutch components will convert it to manual shift.

    parking lot rider training schools

Did the M1 exit course (CSC gearing up) at Niagara College had Sean (Shawn, Shaun?) and Roger as instructors. Just a great team of instructors, riders of all ages and types. I've been riding dirt bikes for nearly 25 years and learned something on every challenge. Like Rob said, low speed...

fuel efficient car for towing, etc.?

I've used Krown for years, great product. The dealer in Milton does a good job of it. It will end up on your driveway, it will run out of crevasses here and there for a week or so after the application. It will make you think your car is on fire if you pull up to a light when you drive it...

Oil change. Simple, right? The drain plug is on the left side of the cases toward the rear of the engine, 12mm head. Yes, that is a dollar store cat litter / drain pan. A new filter can be tracked down at Canadian Tire, Fram part number CH6015. It'll come with a new o-ring for the filter...

Having machine work done in the US - delivering parts to USPS

I called the border, they suggested bringing whatever documentation I can - bill of sale for the engine itself. I will have to pay duty upon return, but I'll have a receipt for that as well.

Ontario should make winter tires mandatory.

Agreed. They've stopped using road salt north of Bracebridge on 11 according to family members and rely on a spray (could be brine) alone. It does turn the snow to slush, but freezes in the serious cold leaving tire ruts and potholes.

Having machine work done in the US - delivering parts to USPS

I could yes, but I know the gent in Michigan well. Dealing with local shops is what led me to his business in the first place.

Having machine work done in the US - delivering parts to USPS

I'm looking to save some money by driving some bike parts across the border to have some machine work done (XL 350, - new sleeve, +1 valves in the head, case is getting bored and new stroker crank). I'll be shipping them to the machine shop (Michigan) once across. Sure I'll have to pay duty on...

Ontario should make winter tires mandatory.

The liquid spray they're using sucks. Road salt was the good stuff, only a legend now.

Most folks who've had the chance to ride one of these bikes usually ask the same question - what's up with 6th gear? It's ratio is 0.785, that's what. Taller than the highest mountain, there's no way a rider over 150 Lbs could ever expect to use 6th as anything other than a cruising overdrive...

View from the right of the plug boot and the elusive plug. Plug socket and wrench. NGK lists the DPR8Z / DR8Z as 'special application' probably due to the projected tip - meaning "Not to be found anywhere on a weekend". EDIT: this is NOT the same spark plug as used on the XL250R...

The unofficial GTAM 1987 CBX250H maintenance thread

Who wouldn't trust a fresh spark plug out of the box? There should be no need to set it's gap, they did it at the factory - right? Bah. Do the legwork. There is an internet's worth of 'knowledge' to be had, and yet no documented (Honda of Canada literature) answer as to what the gap should...

Rubber parts are near to inobtanium, Kawasaki makes little effort to support vintage product. Mike at Z1enterprises.com might be of some help.

    Propane vs gas generator

My 2000W CTC unit in my service truck will barely run my laptop off of the battery alone. Absolute crap. When it finally gives out I won't hesitate to replace it with a suitcase style 1-2000W gas unit.

    Propane vs gas generator

+1, Most solid state controls can tolerate +5 to -10% on voltage with 0 effect on performance. The power supplies can hack quite a bit of abuse based on the supplied power passing through a transformer, which usually absorbs the brunt of the fluctuation. I keep it old school by design in our...

    Propane vs gas generator

Bingo. We missed out on the ice storm here in Niagara, but we did have a wild thaw accompanied with a power outage in the spring. I was barely able to power my sump pump with a CTC 2000W invertor on a 30' 14 ga extension cord. The invertor is permanently installed in my service truck, and is...
