    New pad installation problem

Redrider, I don't think I can offer any more in the way of suggestions... but just out of curiosity, did you ensure that the rear pads were in fact the right pads for your bike? Should be pn# 1174rx3? Other than that, it seems like you've covered all your bases - the pads fit, no shims, the...

    New pad installation problem

So you took the caliper off, pushed the pistons in, installed new pads (with or without shims), replaced caliper... and now the pads lock on the rotor? Weird. It sounds either like the pads are too thick for your application, the wheel is not centred, or the pistons aren't retracting (which is...

Went for my first ride last night

Geez does that thing ever look like an SV650. Congrats on the first ride. Stay safe :)

2 week ride in the Rockies

Excellent pictures. Did you find that the handling of your bike changed significantly with all your gear on the back of it?

    New pad installation problem

The 'backing plates' you're describing sound like shims - you can leave them off but if you start getting a squeal from your rear brakes, well, you know what the culprit is. I don't understand how your pads can be too tight against the rotor when there's no pressure on the brake pedal; you did...

    299 in Victoria driver CHARGED

The control that this guy exhibits over his bike at that speed is impressive. I've read that the average human brain can't cope with speeds over 220kph in terms of reaction time for braking, turning, accelerating, etc. So it's very interesting to see this guy with no race training actually...

    Earplugs

My helmet is LOUD! I ride with earplugs every time, mostly connected to an mp3 player. I find my bike sounds different (in a good way) with the plugs in... gotta keep an eye on my rearview for the popo though, as the plugs+music tends to drown out the sirens.

The OP had no point - merely a complaint and an unusual aversion to independent thought. God forbid we should think progressively.

Thanks for the capitalization, I feel more literate as a result  We're talking about two completely different things... you're rambling on about some isolated incident that you witnessed which has formulated your perceptions and justifies your pettiness whereas I am speaking in...

Guh, this thread is deteriorating... Drivers who intentionally put others lives at risk by say, oh I dunno, trying to block them from getting by (?) are the real dangerous element here. I have never (on my bike) tailgated, brake checked, or purposely put at risk the driver of another vehicle -...

how often do you check your mirrors?

To the OP, I check my mirrors an awful lot... I like to know who's behind me. To the rest of this thread, I was blocking in the left tire track and had a guy pull beside me trying to share my line while riding in a straight line recently. He had to have been 70+ years old and after he did it...

Where did you ride today ???

lakehurst road to the 507, west on 503, to hwy 121, to 49, to road 36, to pigeon lake road, to road 10, to hwy 7, and home. Just over 200k.

    How much you ride ?

Perhaps where you live, sure. However, I'm about 10 minutes away from some decent roads and 30 mins away from some really decent twisties. I've put almost 15k on my bike since May but I'm off for the summer, so riding pretty much eats up the first half of my day, everyday.

    Bike shed beside garage

I already had a workshop/1.5 car garage but my driveway fell short of it by about 30 feet.... I layed just over 300sq.ft. of interlock there so that I could get my bikes in and out easier... the entire job from start to finish took me 6 days; lotsa digging though :).

what temps does your gsxr 600/750 run at?

Personally? I wouldn't do a flush, I'd just add straight coolant (instead of a coolant/water mix) the next time a top-up is required. The temps don't sound like they're at a critical level, they're just running a touch high, just keep your eye on it. I think you'll be fine to ride that way...

Ahhhh, nice to see a couple of level-headed, independent thinkers show up in a thread like this for a change. Cry me a river, OP. If you wanna blindly follow the laws to your own detriment, so be it. At least have the decency to not complain about those of us who have been blessed with a mind...
