    Normal car recommendation….

Have a 2018 Forester with the 2.5 base and it pulls decent and gets better fuel mileage than my daughter’s 2018 Crosstrek. Better room and visibility too. The CVT has programmed shift points to simulate a regular slush box. Had two of them and highly recommend.

    Carbon emissions

I know we beat the heck out carbon emissions debate and didn’t want to open a separate topic on climate change. Here is a video on something I believe is very important and I am pretty diligent about sorting my recycling and do get annoyed with the large amount I need to handle every week...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

For the regular owners, how are you finding the remaining range display or battery % for accuracy? I’m one of the worst for running my vehicles down to their low fuel light comes on and use the trip display for litres per kilometre read out to give me some idea of where I’m at needing to fill...

    Total eclipse - April 8 2024

DO NOT COME TO NIAGARA FALLS! it will be a gong show. Everything is booked and even if the day is overcast, traffic and everything will be jammed and poor service etc. Even the locals will be looking to get out of dodge before the weekend starts to avoid it.

    These Conservatives

I think it’s fair to say media has changed to showing bias and hold conservative points of view with more scrutiny than liberals. Sure there is cross over when it can’t be avoided but, there is more op ed reporting than journalism. There is select clips to support a given narrative and it...

    These Conservatives

We’ve got a thread bashing the current government and there is some back and forth on some opposing views. Let’s sling some mud at the next possible federal representatives if there is an election. I understand why the conservatives haven’t released a platform. However, the cynical side...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

An interesting poi from an enthusiast and EV owner. Btw, I think the heading is misleading. I don’t think it’s an argument against EV. I support EV and they have a solid place in the market.

    More authoritarianism Bill C-63

My two cents, the very fact there are opposing points of view here, it’s exactly the reason there should be scrutiny. We can all agree children need to be protected and those that prey on children should be prosecuted. The intent of how the laws and regulations will be applied is more...

    Buell Super Cruiser

Scratching me head here and I’m a Buell owner. I like muscle cruisers, V-Rod, V-Max, Rocket, Diavel etc. even the air cooled bikes FXR and Lowrider S. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. I think Buell could be an interesting motorcycle company. Compete with Italian and...

Is there a male loneliness epidemic?

What has helped me is music, motorcycles (and bicycles) and machines (vintage cars). Noodling on a guitar, doing a brake job on a bike, having a coffee or beer. I can do that for hours alone and feel completely grounded. It can also include friends or neighbours and doing those things while...

Is there a male loneliness epidemic?

Mental health challenges everyone. However, with males, they tend to take these challenges on by themselves. Chatting with their friends about feelings and emotions isn’t received well. Having a sense of purpose and keeping active definitely helps. I enjoy my alone time and need it. But...

    TV shows currently watching

I might be slow on the uptake but, True Detective S4 with Jodie Foster is produced very well. Great production from visual and audio makes my arm hair rise. The cast is outstanding too. One of the few shows, you watch and don’t check your WhatsApp group chat.

Is there a male loneliness epidemic?

This is spot on and timely. We can address gender equality as well as address specific gender issues at the same time. It does seem to be we can only address those who have been marginalized historically and as soon as you mention man, male or white, the blinders and ear muffs are put on...

    More authoritarianism Bill C-63

This one isn’t easy and once you table the plan, it’s open to criticism. It’s an important concern to deal with and there should be concern on the possibility of over reach. I’m cynical enough to worry when I’m told not to.

    BOC Hits 5%

Some RV dealers are selling units at auction to try and generate cash flow. New stock units from manufacturers are costing less than last year models and inventory is full. Will be interesting to see how things play out. New unit orders are not gaining much traction even with the lower...

Agree! Very common. Banks encourage it as well to make the accounts joint with the POA to manage incidental expenses.

    Brian Mulroney dead

Reviewing his legacy compared to current political accomplishments, I’d say he set a high bar that Iikely won’t be achieved again in my lifetime. Not that he was without fault but, he did a lot for Canada on a global scale. Hope his legacy inspires current and future politicians in a...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

There definitely can be better messaging on the benefits EV provides and how to deal with perceived road blocks. They are not direct replacements for ICE equivalent vehicles. Just in the same way a pick up isn’t necessary to commute to work or a smart car isn’t ideal for a contractor. They...

    BOC Hits 5%

Good point. That figure is based on last Notice of Assessment. They just indicate the limit. Not what you have in it.
