If you are chasing a short: wire in a light bulb. Lets say you think you have a short in the side stand switch wire, but you are not sure. Disconnect the wire where it joins the main harness and connect a bulb in series to the battery positive. If the wire shorts to ground, the light will...
I don't normally wade into threads like these, but I can fully appreciate both sides of the discussion. Having regularly dealt with the mechanical aftermath of motorcycle accidents I am familiar with the energies involved when something tragic occurs and wouldn't wish it on any rider or...
The leak might be very difficult to detect with the head still installed. If there is still a leak it could be:
Valve seats - may need to be re-cut
Valve guide to stem clearance - if worn the seating might be off intermittently.
Cracked head
Valve itself
Easy way is to remove the head and the...
1. The first thing you have to address is the mechanical sealing issue as found by the leak down. Based on those readings, cylinder #1 is not sealing at all. You need to find out why before you go any further. Did the tech say which valve(s) were leaking? Usually with a leak-down you can...
My understanding from our discussion is that neither one of us would have passed the bike based on the information here, I wouldn't. Given that I (and I assume Neil) have/has not seen the bike in person, I would want to look over the whole thing in person before rendering final judgement...
Yes. However it depends on the manufacturer and your budget. We can order gear made for you - expensive. Or find a stocky-er european cut - cheaper, more time involved.
I have a similar issue with jackets. Wider shoulders and longer arms, generally means you are wearing a parachute through the...
Assuming you were purchasing a filter for your bike (GL1500): KN-303
Shipped to your door from a local shop would have been less than $30 plus tax, and you would have had it next day.
Sorry you had a frustrating experience online.
I don't disagree, but many shops (especially private) do not have access to the manufactures' specifications. I probably would fail it too, but there would be a discussion that accompanied that fail. By the "letter of the law" both sides could be right with their arguments. Not sure if run-out...
If in doubt, take the bike to a shop you trust and explain your concerns. They can do another inspection (probably won't be free) and let you know what maintenance items are worn/broken/requiring attention.
As always: whether something passes a safety or not is up to the inspecting technician...
I finally had a chance to go for a ride this weekend, albeit a short ride. I expected this to feel like a newer FZ1, it did not. I thought this was going to be more "toury" and less sporty, wrong.
The ergos were great for a rider with a bigger frame. Handle bars and pegs felt like they were in...
Our demo ride is this Saturday. I will ride it and try to offer my opinions on it early next week when I'm back in front of the computer. I have high hopes for it, which I am trying to temper.
What bike? I might have the adapters you want in stock... last time I looked they were less than $20 a pair. Just need to know what bike and what size mounting screw you want to use M6.. M8? They are black anodized aluminum from Rizoma, not that anyone will ever see them.
Edit: just re-read...
