Well in some places you don't need the helmet, and lots of people do go without. If it were not law here im sure many guys would go without here as well. Until you see a guy on a cruiser wearing a fake biker club jacket, you are only seeing a guy on a cruiser doing what guys on cruisers do...
Maybe because they have some faith in their riding ability? Maybe have been riding long enough to not be constantly scared of every shadow in their peripherals? Maybe they can let a car be beside them or pull in front without crying "stupid cagers cut me off 20 times again today" after every...
My highway baptism occurred about 1km from the spot I picked up my M2. My only reasonable route to work is by highway so I dove right in. Realized very quickly it was way safer than riding hwy 7 from Brampton to Markham.
I should clarify I am only referring to vehicle operation, not actual riding on the roads and not being a hood ornament skill. The later does require skill and experience. Which you wont really get from the course anyway.
Well said. Normal operation of a motorcycle within the rules of the road is not the finely honed skill it's made out to be. Go practice, you'll get more out the course if you have an understanding of balance and the clutch. I did 300km on my bike before the course. As for avoiding bad habits...
So the guy has insurance. Like you say, besides maybe a chain or some other lame anti theft gimmick, what do expect him to do? Btw, what's a chain to a person willing to load a bike into a truck? Bike gets stolen, buddy calls the insurance company, big deal. Some people can afford these things...
No fault insurance has been in affect in Ontario since 1990. No one is fixing his bike if he didn't have his own collision coverage.
And if the OP was given a ticket for pass on right not in safety, his insurance company will see it as fault. And so will the car drivers insurance, that guy will...
And to the insurance company you are at fault simply because you hot a ticket. And the other driver will be in the same boat with his insurance company.
Get some detail of the intersection this happened at. For example, the lane the cars were parked in, was there a "no parking here to intersection" sign posted about 20' before the intersection? That sign creates a full two lane situation through the intersection.
I think you'll be able to fight the ticket easily. As for the insurance situation, no one will cover your bike. The bad thing about getting that ticket is your insurance company will see it as an at fault accident, regardless of if you get the ticket beat in court. But when you do beat it in...
I won't be staying in one place very long anyway. And yes, I saw some of the traffic chaos on YouTube videos. I'll look into it in one of the smaller towns, if at all. It looks like the cost alone will put a damper on it anyway.
Thanks, I'm going to do that tomorrow. I once ignored a slight sound in my car and it became a big sound, then a noise, then a grinding, then a $900 wheel bearing. Lol.
Thanks, the spec say its a "twin-piston" brake calliper. I was kind if sure it's not a bearing because like I say, the slightest pressure on the brake makes it stop.
