Does anyone here use an auto-oiler?

I've had a Scottoiler on my Trophy for longer than I can remember. It works really well, and does keep the chain nice and clean. Top it up once a year and forget about it. There is a bit of throw off, but no worse than a regularly lubed chain.

Motorcycle storage tips for tight garage

I made my own centerstand dolly, so that I can push the bike around on it, balancing it. A bit tricky, and use it in the shed I built for storage. For daily use I wouldn't use it in the garage, too hard to get off and on. For the garage I have done the bike in front of the car thing. I got...

    What is Your Favorite Jacket?

Bristol leather jacket. The first lasted 19 years, and still looks great, but needed a new zipper. Bought a second one with more bells and whistles. Great service from Bristol on a relining a couple of years ago, and Canadian, made well.

    Personal Rules for riding...

Some good ones so far. I can add a few of mine: 1) Don't ride to work in the morning if frost on the windshield of the car or less than 3° (okay later in the day) 2) All my gear. I feel naked without it, and probably do everyone a public service by hiding in it :) 3) Keep my space. I hate...

Time to Say Goodbye to an Old Friend?

AKA my original motorcycle jacket. It's served me well for 19 seasons, 1 crash (more of a tip over), through sun and rain, been soaked through at least three times. It's a black Bristol jacket, and still gets favourable comments on how it looks. Last year I had Bristol reline it as the lining...

Need Advice: Seat Solution For Touring On Sportbike

The Corbin's do take a long time to break in to get really comfortable. If I recall, it may have been close to a year (5-7K of riding)

Need Advice: Seat Solution For Touring On Sportbike

I went with a Corbin for my Trophy. Great, and still good after 6 years. The Ducati seat is done after two years, so I have to decide Corbin or Ducati "comfort" seat.

Best Time of Year for BC / Alberta

I am thinking of a trip out west this year, and am wondering what weather would be like, particularly in June or July. I would probably fly to Vancouver and rent for 1-2 weeks, doing the BC interior and over to Calgary and back. Any thoughts?

    What personality type are you?

Either ISTP or INTP - the S and N were pretty close. I picked up a good read a couple of weeks ago - "Quiet - The Power of the Introvert in a World That Won't Stop Talking". I recommend it to any I's. And yes, I's frequent the internet quite a bit.

    N/W Pennsylvania summer trip recommendations

I was down that way last spring, and stayed at Gunner's in St. Mary's. Lots of good roads in the area, and Gunners was.... interesting. Not ISO registered, but a lot of charachter. It did attract a few motorcyclists. http://www.gunners.biz/

Funny...I have my bike up on Kijiji for sale

I got offered an i-phone once, also an i-pad, but my favourite was a snake and two other reptiles for a CRB125.

    Too old to ride?

My goal is to do a track day, after riding to the track, when I'm 92. Then maybe after that I will consider hanging it up. Told my daughter, she laughed and said what would anybody do to stop you?

What do I need to know for buying a helmet online?

Even buying the same make, but a subsequent model can spell changes that could be a disaster. I had a Shoei RF900 which I loved. 5 years later, it had been replaced by teh RF1000, which after 1/2 hour used to give me headaches. Next helmet I switched to Arai. And I did try it on in the...

    Parker brothers close shop

Re: Parker Bros. - done For me, it's a sad day. My introduction into the world of motorcycling occurred 21 years ago this summer. I started my research before getting my license with visits to Cycle World West and Parker Brothers. My first memory of Parker was Dave and Jill packing up for...

    January riders??.....

This is the first year I haven't sent the bikes into storage, keeping them in my shed at home for a change. Of course this means the weather will be a mess and ruin my plans for a January ride, which is the only month of the year I have not ridden in.

December riders - careful out there...

I picked up the Duc yesterday from the dealer. I had planned on trailering it, either yesterday or Thursday or Friday this week. But when I woke up it was dry down by the QEW, the QEW looked dry so I decided riding was easier than getting the trailer out, putting the bike on it and hauling it...

Ducati Maintenance, is it really that bad?

So far my Ducati Multistrada is running cheaper on maintenance than the Trophy 900. The service intervals have been stretched out, and if you do your own work, you should be okay.

December riders - careful out there...

I got a ride in Thursday after dinner, taking the Duc in for service (battery doesn't like holding a charge any more). Had one lady pull in front of me making a turn, one guy tailgating me, and a OPP cop start moving into my lane until I gassed it and he saw me. The cages definitely aren't...

    How was your season?

So far, so good. I did a 2,700 km tour south in May, finding some amazing roads. Since then, mainly commuting any non-rainy day to work. Projects on the go have cut down the weekend riding, but those same projects will enable me to stretch the season, so it is all good.
