I'm guessing you're almost 30? lol Seems unheard of these days.
My parents/teachers told me the same thing, but where I grew up we didn't have dedicated school buses or school zones with 5km/h speed limit "when flashing".
I doubt that there will be any difference. An engine can gain a bit of power with a lower back pressure if the fuel injection is adjusted, but a mere decrease of back pressure without any other changes shouldn't really have any significant effects.
There were some motels in Maryville if I recall correctly. Also, I think that further down on 129 there were some as well. I stayed at an Econo Lodge in Knoxville (exit 398 from I-40) and it was still relatively close to the gap.
Either you want to learn, or you don't want to break stuff.. lol
Na... It's not that you touch something and it breaks. Most things aren't that difficult if you're careful and don't rely too much on guesswork and assumptions.
Also, there are people on this forum who do work on bikes and may...
I think this is going for the new record. Last one was about the rider who was buried on his repsol. It had something in the neighborhood of 10 reposts...
I didn't realize that those pieces were hard plastic. What TwistedKestrel said would be my next guess. Seems like it's been pre-digested by the transmission too... :P
This is absolutely terrible. Hits close to home for some personal reasons... Condolences to the family and friends of the fallen rider and wishes of speedy and full recovery to the injured ones. Also, sympathy with those who witnessed this and who worked at the track when it happened.

Paul was replying to a post about one person being affected by someone else's "poor decision". He gave an example of a guy who thinks that riding motorcycles is a poor decision (link to a previous post with the corresponding article). This is the real problem here, i.e. to what extent people can...
I have a small tank bag and it doesn't interfere with riding at all. As a matter of fact I can lean on it on highway rides which makes it a lot easier to do long hauls.
