Toronto Bike Store Services = crap

Yeah, working customer service sucks at the best of times. I know because I do it. One really good or really bad interaction can make or break your day - it's hard to be objective. But the first thing I thought when I saw this thread was, of course they're crabby, they would rather be riding!

    Cold pavement

If you reach this level, you probably would have been so cold at some point that you would have stopped. I rode around town today (Wednesday), and I'll admit it was cold, but it was a nice ride. Just had my neck and face covered, thin long johns under my jeans, and decent gloves. No regrets.

    New Toronto Rider!

Hey JH, let us know how the move went. Also, I'm a bit center/west, so if you ever want to hook up for a ride...

looking to rent a bike for my M test

When I did my test a few years ago with the ministry, there was another guy there who had expired the day before. Denied. Big time. It was sad, actually, because there was nothing that could help him. They sent him back to square one. But here's my first question; can you get your M on a...

    Off-road Marmora Ride this Friday!

I was hoping to join up but your Facebook group is closed. Any chance I can get in on this? Thanks.

Using CAA to tow a bike?

Read the policy. You get tows pretty easily, but it's the distance that's going to be the issue. You can get a tow to home or garage of choice, within reason. You might be better taking it to a random corner somewhere and calling it in as broken down. Let the air out of a tire - a flat is...

Riding: Is it really worth it?

I scratch my head and wonder, and then it occurs to me that I ride an enduro. So that's automatically cheaper? Good for me. I ride enduro because I like the style. Appeals to my "ride it like I stole it" frame of mind. My operating costs are no more than what I save on ttc fare for the...

Long Term Parking in Downtown Toronto

I don't think there's anywhere in that 'hood that won't require a permit for parking overnight. Daytime is probably no problem, but between midnight and 7am you're going to have issues. If there's a parking lot you can poach between those hours you could get away with it, but that means being...

Insurance Broker - Here to learn, not to sell!!

Welcome. I appreciate your being straight up. I think you'll be a good asset. Just remember, "It puts the lotion on the skin, or else it gets the hose again." (I only added that for the sake of the previous reference. Ok, Clarice?

    M1 Exit Question

Practice practice practice your slow maneuvering. One foot down is a fail. I've seen it happen and not too many things suck more. If you have a large bike with a lot of power consider borrowing something more manageable. (If you're having problems. Just sayin'.)

    TD Insurance (Bike Only)

Kingsway screwed me over last year due to a mistake the ministry made. I ended up calling TD and was amazed by the service. gave me the benefit of the doubt with the ministry fiasco, and when it was straightened out I was good to go. I went down over $200 on what is an already reasonable...

Mountain bike for a 16yr old

I'd suggest visiting a bike shop and asking questions, narrowing down your choices. There are no decent "commuter/mountain bikes", and technically what you're describing is a hybrid, which personally, for a 16 year old, sucks. They make great commuter bikes, but suck on trails. Mountain bikes...

    Where can I go practice?

When I had to practice I found a local school yard. Totally empty on weekends. Underground lots can be oily. Just sayin'.

    scooter(s)

I started on scooters and I have no regrets. I prefer a motorcycle now but the scooter had its place. My Vespa 150 was perfect for city commuting, and I never had a problem keeping up with traffic. Took it regularly on the Allen, and up to Lake Simcoe on the 80 k roads. The parking was...

    Need a route suggestion

I used to take this route years ago when I rode a 150 scooter. Brimley north to 14th (where it ends), 14th to Kennedy, Kennedy to 16th and then across. I like Brimley because it doesn't have a 401 ramp so the cagers aren't in a highway frame of mind. Otherwise keep it simple and take Kennedy...

bad experience with CARBONCAT Reflection Auto Refinishing

Dude, I'm nobody here, and this is only opinion based on what I've been reading here, but here it is. You should stop. Now. You're not making a good case for yourself, and the more you say the worse you get. Because if I understand correctly you've sold the rims? And you still want a...
