I think common sense would be to let one car in and move on and the next driver behind you lets another car in. I always notice, when I merge early, there's always people that are gonna overtake you and join the line on the right... and you are not really helping relieve the bottleneck because...

If you plan to ride on the highway (eventually), I'd suggest a 250 (like a Kawi ZZR 250 or something).
