    Stop

Residents in the area demand stop signs, and speed bumps, and with nobody to argue against them, they get what they want. Otherwise the politician gets the boot. The choice they face is to add stop signs or lose their job, it's not to either spend or not spend. Goes back to the general...

[RANT] Getting so sick of the insurance industry in this god damned province

So you got the ticket when you were 24. Sounds like when you turned 25 whatever premium you might have saved was overshadowed by the increase due to the ticket. You have to compare apples to apples or it's not a valid comparison. What else changed between then and now? And your rate factors in...

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

Re: So Three Ontario Cops Walk Into A Courtroom... I took "3/4 empty box" to mean there were empties, or partial empties, but maybe not. Fake stories often overlook little details like that.

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

Re: So Three Ontario Cops Walk Into A Courtroom... Did they also swear he wasn't doing 200km/h? Even without radar a dashcam would make that obvious. And the alcohol being within reach isn't a matter of opinion either. Nor is inebriation if the OPP officer followed protocol. This has the...

Where do you fit in the Ontario Voter landscape?

Guaranteed Wynne leaves if she doesn't form government. Pretty much the same for Horvath. Ford is less certain but one thing he can be trusted on is to turn everything into a shambles. His support will crater one way ir anothe, just a question of whether the party will do anything about it. Only...

Where do you fit in the Ontario Voter landscape?

There'd be some of that, some progress, but the next vote would likely be with all new leaders.

Where do you fit in the Ontario Voter landscape?

I'm on exactly the same page. Just a couple days ago it occurred to me that any minority government would really sort things out nicely. We'll have to see.

Where do you fit in the Ontario Voter landscape?

Possibly. Hopefully one day anyone who looks at surveys like these will ask themselves the question of the source's credibility before participating. I never did but I will now thanks to C.A. Looking up Vox Pop Labs I learned about this 'B Corp' certification for ethical business practices. It...

Where do you fit in the Ontario Voter landscape?

The demographic info they ask for is so specific it could identify every person individually even without their name or address. It's pretty probing stuff. But that info wouldn't belong to the government. It probably doesn't even belong to the CBC. They couldn't have put together a poll like tis...

Doug Ford - Build in greenbelt

Yeah that's all great. The thing that threw me off was your apparent suggestion that that could be achieved by splitting up the existing fleet of trains into several shorter trains (as opposed to adding more to the fleet, I presume).

Kathleen Wynne - What will be her Legacy?

Rob already has his gas plant scandal x2 in the Scarborough subway extension. Cost went from $1.5 to $3.5 billion (and counting) for a worse transit system that is many years delayed. I don't know why people aren't up in arms about that all the time. Is it because it's municipal? Or because...

    Stop

Yup, when I'm within 50 ft of an intersection on my bike, cars stop in all directions in anticipation of me just breezing through. So I stop and immediately take off again because I'm not going to sit around all day waiting for drivers to get a clue.

Doug Ford - Build in greenbelt

I don't know what 'that' you mean exactly. The way I would describe the end goal is to reduce our dependence on automobiles by providing alternatives. In the case of regional transportation, that means rail service that can be relied on at most times of the day.

Doug Ford - Build in greenbelt

You're talking about attracting more riders but not fitting more into each car. That can work off-peak but obviously you need more capacity for more riders at peak hours. And off-peak increases always cause peak hour increases. That's the point, people feel free to use the system when they want...

Kathleen Wynne - What will be her Legacy?

It also pays dividends with a carbon pricing system in place. Of course that doesn't mean any price is worth it, there's surely some waste as there always is, and maybe even some negligent waste beyond that. And yes I know global warming is a hoax, blah blah blah.

Doug Ford - Build in greenbelt

You can't serve more riders with the same number of rail cars, and you can't add frequency if the rail lines only have one track! Or if you can, that kind of advice would be worth billions to transit agencies so you should offer them your consulting services.

Doug Ford - Build in greenbelt

The big limitation of GO train service isn't its reach but its frequency. That's why the Regional Express Rail (RER) project to add all-day two-way GO service was started under Wynne. It's such a huge improvement even John Tory stole the idea and relabeled it 'SmartTrack' for his election...

Doug Ford - Build in greenbelt

You're comparing tunnels to surface routes. Subways and streetcars use either one. If you're trying to say tunnels are inherently superior to dedicated surface routes then why?
