Motorcycle Safety and Accidents in Europe

I'm adding it to mine, as soon as I need new rubber (since the valve stems will need to be replaced with metal ones).

    Supersport looking Sport-Tourer?

Ducati Supersport, CBR650F, Ninja 650R, FZ6R, SV650, VRF800, GSX-F, Ninja 1000, etc The biggest difference, looks-wise, is most times they'll have the clip-ons mounted above the triple tree vs below, meaning less of a fetal position when riding. Outside of that, less power than SS, typically...

How the hell do I insure my very expensive vintage restoration...under 30?

I think there is some sort of 'show vehicle' insurance that you might want to look into. I know someone who did that with an old corvette. The only downside is you are not allowed to use it much (it's really designed just for taking it to local meets or backing it in/off trailers), but if they...

    Absolute discharge dangerous driving

I could be wrong, but I thought I heard before that if you did get pulled over for say HTA172, but then it got dismissed in court, the roadside license suspension still showed on your record as it already happened. I hope that is wrong, but honestly don't know.

    CBR500R - Good Deal?

I bought my first bike (2011 CBR250RA) new, and didn't regret it. Price was right, I knew I would be careful, and also put frame sliders on it right away (before the first ride actually, lol). Different strokes for different folks, but I do like new (if it fits within budget and still makes...

Insurance went up across the board or just SS?

Mine came down about $100 or so, however I also switched providers which brought it down more.

    Cyclist taken out

Re: Cyclist hit and run In the video the car is clearly at fault, even if the cyclist is being a bit of an *** by riding side by side and holding up traffic. That said, just walking to get lunch today I saw a cyclist run into the side of a left-turning car at College & Spadina. Came along...

Bike Insurance to high what should I do with it?

Sounds like you had a gap in your insurance. As far as I know, this matters to most, so they'll put your rates back up as if you were a 'new' rider, at least for a few years. It will still be expensive if classified as a higher risk/SS bike, but that might explain the even higher numbers right...

Did My Insurence Broker Lied To My Face On The Phone??

Odd, maybe luck of the draw regarding agent and also bikes/history/location/etc. I switched everything to Allstate this year, and saving around $500-700 across the car, bike, and home. Kicking myself I didn't do it sooner actually.

    Renew your licence sticker online

I actually renewed both the bike and car before the price increase...fun fact, you can also renew up to around 6 months in advance of your sticker expiry, in case they decide to jump rates again. For cars, emissions tests are also valid for at least the same, so you can test a car in summer if...

    New rider, GSX R600 insurance

Different for everyone...I just moved everything to Allstate, and saving a ton across the bike and car. That said, my bike isn't a SS (most classify it as sport or sports touring, thankfully).

    Hello from new female rider

Your friends don't know what they are saying if they said you have to go 600cc or bigger, so the R3 would have been more than fine as a first bike. That said, the Monster is also a great choice, and fairly safe as far as 600cc bikes go (as it isn't a supersport). Welcome, and remember, rubber...

Watched a dude on black bike bump start blue Gixxer on the Gard Expressway - cool

Guess benefit of smaller lighter bikes (than cruisers) -- I've had to push start my old CBR250RA once as well as my CBR650FA. Just got up to a jogging-to-running pace alongside the bike, and dropped the clutch in 1st (2nd for the 250)...as soon as the engine catches, clutch back in, shift to...

Fail to remain; Hwy 7 Eastbound, Hwy 400 overpass

Likely a positive correlation between 'deciding to run/riding without insurance' and 'inability of avoid a car' and 'general lack of intelligence'. Just my 2 cents. No clue why the driver pulled over and stopped though. At first I thought there would be some flashing lights afterwards as the...

Anyone here have a Shoei GT air or Icon Alliance GT?

As much as I'd like a transition visor (which is possible with the next helmet I am looking at -- RF1200), swapping shields on my RF-1100 never really bothered me. Takes maybe 10-20 seconds, and I always have my tailbag, so I just put the other one in there (in a visor pouch thing so it doesn't...

Re: Finally some decent riding weather Yesterday marked my first real ride out of the city this year....normally that happens late April or early May... Didn't go that far due to other commitments, but this does seem to be the year of 1-2 good days per week, which may or may not occur on the...

Any news on County Rd 10 North out of Port Hope?

On it yesterday, was as clean as it has been in recent memory. Parts are still stone chip, but it is sealed and none is loose. Had zero issues. That said, I heard they are working on Ganaraska Rd (9), but crossing over it on 10 there was no road work being done/maybe they are done that section.
