    507 today?

As far as I know they were salting and sanding in force up there Friday...going to have to wait for a few good rains again before it is in decent condition (imo).

    Insurance Needed: 27 Years Old/M2/CBR600RR

As a new rider with M2 on a SS bike...even if you do find a company, expect to pay through the nose for 1-2 years until you prove yourself to them.

    Northern Roads Conditions v. 2017

Thanks for this...probably not heading up that way until closer to the end of the month, but was wondering what they were like now. Aside from the above, wondering if anyone knows the conditions of the following: - Dyno Rd - Mount Horeb - Ski Hill Road - Lakeshore Rd (Newcastle -> Port Hope)...

Mixture of Old and new Oil...

I would never mix oil types or weights or types, but mixing new oil with new oil of the same viscosity shouldn't hugely matter if the "old" new oil was stored properly. For example half left in a used bottle of T6 from last year and new T6 fine...but not car oil or some other type mixed with...

    Supersport vs ABS Supersport

The goal of having ABS is to never have to actually use it...but that said, the 1-2 times I've had it come on with the bike and 3-4 times with the car, I've been extremely glad I had it.

Check tire pressures please, friendly reminder

Out of interest, does anyone have experience with Garmin's TPMS which they added to the Zumos? Thinking of going that route (just picked up the GPS) myself. I do check tire pressure fairly regularly, however I do like the idea of getting a warning should I get a slow leak/puncture while out on...

    Motorcycle Spring Show deals?

Just wondering who all is at/has gone to the spring show this year, and what sorts of deals you are seeing (and which vendors)? Probably heading there myself this afternoon.

Insurance for R6 if just got M? Is it financial suicide or not?

    Well now...that's depressing....

Insurance for R6 if just got M? Is it financial suicide or not?

TD's online system is laughable at best. I still remember it quoting out about $8000/year for a CBR600RRA. I called them and they told me $1600/year.

Looking for an 8 year old SS insurance quotes??

Really you just need to call around, as every situation is different based on personal reasons as well as postal code. As for age, I don't think that matters much as they are more worried about the bike's power and risk. The cost to replace any bike is much lower than the cost of a lawsuit...
  11. conundrum

Never learned to ride a bicycle, wants a motorcycle.

I was honestly a little worried myself, as I rode bikes a lot as a kid, but hadn't actually been on one for probably 15-20 years when I decided to take the course and get my M1/M2. I guess what they say about "it's like riding a bike" is true, as once I was moving it all came back to me and was...

Sold two wheels to help fund four wheels...

Re: Sold two wheels to help fund four wheels... (328i) If memory serves BMWs use a stupidly large amount of oil per change (something like 6-8L of oil), which lends to the longer than average intervals. Also if memory serves, there is no dip stick, so the only way to know if you put enough oil...

Decisions -- Zumo 390 series vs 590 series

The 395 does actually, and yeah I have a Sena and plan to use it with the GPS (although will probably just route music direct from the phone). My main concern is the screen technology really, and if they added anything between the 590 and 395 that's actually worthwhile, as I can currently get...

Decisions -- Zumo 390 series vs 590 series

Anyone ever directly compare the Zumo 390/395 to the Zumo 590/595? Wondering about screen visibility in sunlight. At first I thought the only major difference was size, but it seems the 390/395 uses a regular screen and the 590/595 uses a transflective screen. Leaning towards the 3 series but...

Insurance went up. Question about switching

Personally I'm getting better numbers with All State right now than I am elsewhere. Bike is cheaper with them than Dalton Timmis/Aviva, and car and home are slightly cheaper than my group rate with TD MM.
  18. conundrum

    Battery storage

At the very least, if you are not going to remove the battery or put it on a tender, you should disconnect it to prevent any parasitic drain on the battery (vs letting that occur the entire winter).

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Not a fan of the Volt, but if the Model S wasn't so expensive I'd be tempted. Although I'm completely happy with my current car, I do foresee a Tesla or similar at some point down the road, but it would still have to be somewhat geared to performance vs pure economy (one reason I still like my...
  20. conundrum

    Battery storage

I think there is still some good in saying not to leave the battery in an unheated garage all winter...mainly given the fact most likely wouldn't top it up first when putting the bike away, so it might actually hit low voltage before the winter is done. That said, although I do pull my bike's...
