What would trip the main house breaker?

Things I have seen trip a main breaker: Loose connection at the breaker, the heat will cause it to trip. A dead short on a branch circuit and someone tries to turn that breaker back on, holds it... Since the OP said the appliances were connected t the genny back feed is likely not the cause. I...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Minor typo MM, Pex A is the expansion one and Pex B uses metal crimp rings (copper or stainless)

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

The DIY ones are not intended to be used like this. They are for floating decks, sheds, etc. I have a tonne of experience with the DIY ones and they work great regardless of what some people say here, but they are not for the purpose you are looking for. I would go with a proper foundation...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Buddy did the house lift. One of the jacks jammed when lowering the house twisting the structure. In the end the contractor walked away, no blood from that stone.... Luckily it was not a total loss but it had to be gutted to fix it. Ironically, the building inspector required them to double the...

For Ikea stuff, use some glue on assembly. Make sure to order all the end trim pieces etc. and have them on hand when you start, so you don't get hit with any back orders.

    How`s your house pricing doing?..

I can't say for anywhere else. Last I looked, a permit is required in Toronto at 12 inches across at four feet high, technically that in metric. I thought that was pretty standard?

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

For an entire house rewire (or new home), AFAIK yes with some exceptions--at least in the last code. Those exceptions were (are?) smoke alarms, fridge, furnace/boiler and 240v circuits like stove, dryer EV. Lots of people don't like them including some "pros" but in general, use good quality...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Lights and outlets on the same 15A circuit are fine and it is the way I do it. I like one breaker per room(s), easier to run wires. There is a counter thought/point that if you trip a breaker at night you lose the light in that room, so some people separate them. You don't need to go crazy on...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

You can fish most of the rewire and install the outlets in the current panelling and then deal with it later during drywall (after final). You can use retro fit boxes etc. if the panelling is coming out you can make small inspection holes etc. to help. No need to rip out anything until need be...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

@mimico_polak I have done an entire house a "few" times. My recommendation, and my approach when it is 100% rewire (aluminum, K&T, even NMD60, etc.): Move the panel location (even just enough) and leave the old service and panel active. Do the rewire with mostly new outlet locations, odds are...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

My bathroom storage cabinet is done (more or less). I wanted a piece of furniture not a closet. I needed to go custom to fit the height and width of the space... I used Home Depot plywood and some HD lumber. The cabinet was mostly made with my tracksaw. My 20+ year old Mastercraft tablesaw...

No fractional shares in that account? IME brokerages that do them will also do fractional drips.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

IMO they are getting out of the way on this, motivation IDK. For perspective, if you head to a big box store and buy a shed in a box(es), there is no way the vast majority of them meet any kind of first world building code. It all goes back to only storage, if it falls down only your stuff gets...

    Aluminum foil + Coca-Cola + Motorcycle = Yes???

Not intended specifically for you. The term is for content providers that just regurgitate other content providers' content as their own, no new information, just now in their words, take the other content as fact and promote is as fact making their own video. Their content is just derivative of...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

That was the old size limit, Toronto adjusted the size to align with the newer Ontario code. Not all municipalities did. The old rules were 10 sq.m (108 sq.ft), the new rule is now 15 sq.m (160 sq.ft). Not sure of the old code but the 160 sq.m specifically says only storage.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Yes and no, it specifically states a shed "is used only for storage purposes ancillary to a principal building on the lot" and also notes no plumbing. That leaves out a cabana even if it does not have plumbing... It also leaves out (only for storage) a lot of "sheds" that are being used as back...

As I read it a deck needs permits if over 2 feet off the ground, I do not see a specific size limit if under that. The height IME triggers railing heights and safety considerations...

    Aluminum foil + Coca-Cola + Motorcycle = Yes???

The aluminum foil trick works well on chrome as it is softer than the chrome but harder than the rust. The pits will still be there but it will look much better. As others noted, the fluid is for lubrication and water will work the same for all practical purposes. Coke etc. will just make it...
