    COVID and the housing market

Condo sold for 290K which is 168K under 2023 purchase price. That isn't all that surprising. Power of sale. Again, not all that surprising other than the speed (purchase to power of sale in three years). Sale by cmhc. Fack. So we all paid for the loss the speculator caused while the speculator...

    E bikes rampaging Toronto streets

Did you release said video or are you just going to leave us hanging with the results? Did you look at the percentage of people with an ebike vs the percentage with a scorned ex-lover? If you have three ebikes and three scorned ex-lovers, does the risk increase linearly with quantity of fiery...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

If there is a big root and you are concerned, with the mini-ex, you could theoretically dig around it and slide conduit under. With the trencher, you won't even know there are roots until you see chips in the swarf pile.

You might have found a way to dull it quickly. I'd probably use a conventional tooth recip blade for that as they are more tolerant of abuse and dirt. Carbide tooth if you have it should be indestructible.

    Don’t bother with FOTC today…

Turning around in the cemetery is probably possible but I'm sure the cemetery won't love that idea and the truck will be blocking the entire road at times. Headed west, the sign wouldn't be positioned terribly but the wording sucks and the wankers made the only possible escape route a...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

I have a pruning blade in a recip saw. There is no contest. Small chainsaw is infinitely better for pruning. Instead of vibrating branches and needing one hand to hold branch and one to hold saw, you can use the saw like a hedge trimmer and sweep the branches leaving your second hand free to...

    E bikes rampaging Toronto streets

TFS released another ebike fire video. Easy to see how one of these burning inside is a destructive nightmare. Flinging flaming batteries far away from the bike ensure that fire spreads quickly.

I looked at their website. While they are upfront they are aiming for the homeowner market, some of the products are headscratchers. Case in point, a "Professional top handle cordless pruning chain saw" with a huge anti-kickback guard riveted on an 8" bar. Even without the guard, sometimes there...

Why are cruisers so darn cheap?

If you want to drool a bit. Mostly cars with a few bikes (no cruisers though). Obviously, for most people, the plan isn't to liquidate and pocket mid eight figures. https://rmsothebys.com/the-mann-collection/

    Don’t bother with FOTC today…

I was thinking the same thing. Wtf are they going to do at the sign? Back up a km or more to get to an intersection? They should just put chicanes with posts at each end as they are entering the section they cant get through. Space the posts so a fire truck can get through but every tractor...

    Don’t bother with FOTC today…

So far there are only charges. I assume (which is dangerous) that like normal drivers/insurance that license/insurance consequences only come into play after conviction. The guy is 65 years old. Drag out the court case until you are ready to retire. If the current company wants to cut him free...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Just make sure to run premix. Accidental refueling with straight gas is a very common cause of death for homeowner saws. The saws are cheap enough that a rebuild rarely makes economic sense.

That would be insane for a shop to sell like that.

    Stocks

It's interesting to see the swings as he gains and loses more than any other person in history but it also demonstrates how meaningless the numbers can be. Especially in his case. If he started selling shares to diversify or protect his net worth, the bottom would fall out of the market. Even if...

What did you do in your garage today..?

To tie corners together, loose pin hinges work. Use stake pockets to hold the panel. Install half of the hinge at the top of the end panel, half on side panel. To remove panel, pull hinge pins and then slide rear panel up. I wouldn't bother with a ramp. Pull the pins so the tongue is loose and...

What did you do in your garage today..?

Meh. 6-12" sidewalls (unclear if 11" is height of entire frame or protrusion above deck) don't help me much. Yours are better.

I figured it was a little aggressive. I have some sheets of finer grit but they aren't adhesive and I didn't feel like doing another step. I can see the scratches on the seat in a loupe but am hoping the teflon is soft enough to conform. I can't detect an air leak right now but if water seeps...
