Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

High hp, heavy weight and cheap fuel are the best recipe for tire wear. Now, I'm not surprised that people are caught off-guard by the speed of wear as they haven't experienced anything similar before. It's almost entirely a driver issue though. Get an ICE replacement instead of a supercar (eg a...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

I would hit the crest of the slope with a belt sander. Most floors don't care about level but they do care about being planar. The change in slope is what stresses the joints and may result in joint failure. Lowering the crest and making it wider (eg transition over a 12" wide band instead of a...

    Canada Post - Huge losses

Calling them loans was an embarrassment and an indictment on our politicians. They care entirely about optics and not at all about reality. They will spend infinite money on that quest.

    Canada Post - Huge losses

I have no issue with some form of Canada post existing. The current dumpster fire of every address, every day is insane and completely unsupported by volume and pricing. It only exists in its current form to appease unions and entitled boomers.

The pay by kwh issue was regulation. It was apparently illegal for some dumb reason. I think that has been resolved now.

    Anyone into gardening here?

I took out a ground wasp nest with a two second shot of foaming death spray. That filled the entrance. Any in the nest died from contact or fumes. Any returning died from contact. One treatment and done.

    Stocks

For now, I am using itrade and they don't have fractional shares. As bank stock is real DRIP with discount and not a synthetic DPP, I don't think fractional works on any platform. Maybe the discount disappears and synthetic DPP gives a fractional share if there isn't enough?

    COVID and the housing market

As a start, "character of the neighbourhood" is crap and imo should be automatically ignored as an argument. Crap like that is just a pile of red type that really doesn't benefit anyone. Municipality should have a plan for what they want their city to be. The development should be compared to...

    COVID and the housing market

They bought the old house for 1.35 in 2024 (listed at 900k then). They had it listed at 2.8 for a few weeks to try to get a bidding war. When it's a super slow market, adding 500k to your asking price always works well. Power of sale coming soon.

    Soon to be Harley owner?

Sadly, I give them a 1% chance of production and 0% chance of production for long. The brand is so focused on old pirates that it is unable to do anything else. They will die with their customers. Bikes that don't fit their stereotypical mold need to be released under a sub-brand. Let the giant...

Why are cruisers so darn cheap?

I take old clothes and throw them out as they get dirty. That makes more space for stuff I pick up along the way.

Why are cruisers so darn cheap?

Maybe but a) the goldwing with a trailer has more storage space than a miata and b)if the plan includes dumping the trailer and much of your crap at a base location and exploring out from their for days that sounds like a good time. Instead of a car, most people would be well served by bringing...

    Stocks

Ouch. Expected but that will hurt for those that had gotten used to the gravytrain. 13% drop today is not surprising but it is sad. That shows how many people are panicking. The chance of a major dividend cut was almost 100% and that has been known for quite a while. Panic selling when it...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

I was thinking more upstream. Parking lots have hundreds of receptacles. Assuming they are all pulling 13A vs 10A means you need a much larger transformer and supply. You may be right though and they are sized for 15A on every receptacle to deal with the worst day of the year. Not quick but 8-10...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Most block heaters are 400-1500 watts. I think some (but not all) are thermostat controlled so they have a duty cycle. I would be surprised if every plug in a parking lot could supply 1400 watts continuous. My guess is they are designed for something under 1000 watts per receptacle.

    Canada Post - Huge losses

Canada Post is by every definition insolvent. The government may not be legally responsible for the debt but they have no issue throwing billions in the fiery pit. Government pretends they are loans but there is zero chance a penny will ever be repaid. That is just more lies and misdirection...

Stupidly overpriced motorcycle for sale thread

I'm the first owner but I replaced the odometer so I have no idea how far the bike has gone so I picked 1000 km? Ummm? Wtaf. If you are the first owner and truly had less than 1000 km on it before you had a big crash in it, you would know almost exact mileage. Shifty af.
