Nice find, I owned two of those, a red ‘80 and a black ‘81. They had an absolutely fabulous indestructible engine. The stying of the 1150 was a little out there but those engines are still being drag raced today although the supply is dwindling. They were the Hyabusas of their day. I wish that bike was a little closer, I would go take a look at it.80 GS 1100 E remarkably unmolested considering its age. 2k asking

That's a spicy meatball that tempts me also...but it may be a money pit that starts with 2 full tanks of gas also...
While I like it, the sellers declaration of "Great beginner or commuter" is complete crap. It's hard to find a worse beginner or commuter bike than a japanese import. It was sold in Canada for two years 35 years ago so that's not going to be much help. Expect it to be down for months at a time as you try to source parts.Log into Facebook

It sounds like it would be easier on your mind to just buy it. Bring the seller some baked products. That makes the seller happy and helps with your weight. I don't see any downside really. You don’t know how much will power I’m using not to buy it…
C’mon, man. $2,500 is just a fart in the wind. You don’t know how much will power I’m using not to buy it…

The issue with no collision is the tow truck mafia can extort you.If you're not rifing much, you may want to consider a vintage bike for the much lower insurance rates. Co-operators limit is 30 years old and less than 4000 kms per year, so 1996 or older. My 88 Hawk was quoted at $112/yr for liability only. If you never park it in a sketchy location, you don't really need theft, and you only need collision if you want insurance to pay for damage to your OWN bike if you are at fault. Otherwise, you can ride with liability only and be fully covered for damages when someone else is at fault.
