1 week trip ideas

Have roughly a week to ride somewhere at the end of August and undecided where to go. Scenic and hopefully twisty roads are part of the plan. Camping or motels - I'm fine with both. Not looking for much gravel, and a distance of anywhere between 4000-7000km is doable.

Thought about James Bay, but long straight bumpy roads that are low on scenery are not really my kinda thing. Already explored Ontario and what I think is everything I'd want to see here, although a buddy and I were talking about setting up a basecamp near Pembroke to fully explore eastern Ontario and that western area of Quebec more thoroughly.

Already been to Gaspe and the north shore of the St Lawrence and Saguenay region. Although Saguenay was pretty wet and foggy when I was out there, so a trip there will feel different if it was clear. Haven't explored too much of Nova Scotia asides from Bay of Fundy, Cabot Trail and Truro and thought I'd save that for a trip with my wife and hit up PEI on the same ride.

I love riding in the states, but still feeling like I'd prefer to spend my money in Canuckistan right now.

Anywhere else I haven't thought of?
 
My latest faves are ADV routes. It’s another world if you’re out of roads in Ontario.

Like Jonny Cash, I’ve been everywhere man on paved roads. Gravel opens a lot of scenery as well as expanding riding skills and experience.

My preference is for gravel highways, stuff you can do on something a little more road capable than a Killer.
 
North Shore of St Lawrence to end of 138, return and then detour up to Manic 5 and back, ferry across from Bair-Comeau. head south to NB and dip down/loop back around, stay south of MTL till Grand Ile?

I do love that stuff, but I suck at gravel and tend to drop my bikes fairly often, so at least for the next couple years I’m doing the street bike thing.

I’ll buy a t7 or something like that down the road:)

Thanks - did most of that 2 years ago except the ferry south from Baie Comeau. I loved going to the end of the 138 and up to Manic Cinq. That was a dream bike trip for about 15 years and it didn’t disappoint.

Maybe some whale watching boat tours would be pretty cool.
 
I loved the road up to Manic 5 during my Trans Lab trip, oh god 15yrs ago. I might need to do a trip next year out the north shore.
 
On multi day trips I often "base camp" to explore the local roads rather than going A to B.
You haven't been everywere until you ride the roads in BOTH directions.
Lots of paved roads that end at lakes but are fun to ride.
I agree with spending my money in Canada until there is a regime change in the US.

I would suggest the East coast and maybe dipping into NFLD but a week might be short for all of it.

That would be my first choice tbh, dont care enough about politics to worry about all that postering, best case nothing happens, worst case scenario they turn me away at the border 🤷‍♂️

Lifes too short to not do what you enjoy
 
Sounds like something other than northern ON/QC are in order. I would head east and cross the border into the US either before QC or south of Montreal (through Magog area). The ride from Montreal most of the way to Riviere-Du-Loup is horrible (I have done it twice this month) and you will lose time with a lot of stop/go from construction and congestion (this can't be avoided and I saw plenty of miserable riders on this stretch in 31c weather roasting) so I highly suggest the US route. Cross back into Canada near St Andrews and then head over and explore Southern loop of NS (this leaves Northern NS and PEI for a later trip with your spouse). There's plenty to see and explore. When it's time to head home you'll have a better idea if you want to take extra time going through the US again or whether you want to stay on the TransCanada.
 
Oka is a nice base camp if the !st nations people are behaving themselves.
Lots of paved roads east, west & north.
I usually stay at Gite Le 308 that is a B&B
You can book thru multiple sites but you get the best price by calling Marie direct.
She used to own a motorcycle (may still) and single hands a 16ft Pringle cat.
She let me store my motorcycle in her garage.

The last little bit around Natashquan was surprisingly hilly and twisty with flawless pavement. Overall I thought it was a remarkable ride out that way.

I work very hard for my money, so I prefer to spend it wisely.

I was looking at that whole southern area of NS and it looked pretty interesting. 2 days there, a few days riding around and 2 days back could make for a fun trip. Thanks!

Thanks for this - that looks like a sweet spot to base out of and I could do some pretty great loops to the north.
