Anyone using Google Maps to plan a ride

I use my desktop to come up with the route and send to my cell phone.
Problem #1 google maps only allows a total of ten stops.
Problem # 2 the route on my cell phone looks a little different than on the desktop.
I need to peak at the route on the cell phone while riding so I don't waste time stopping and checking.

Google Maps sucks for route planning. It's great (mostly) for finding the quickest route from A to B, but trying to get it to follow a pre-planned route is an exercise in frustration. You're better to use a dedicated GPS mapping app, though I'm sure others here are more qualified to recommend the best one. I've used the OSMand and MyRoute free versions, and neither has been particularly user friendly. I understand the paid version of MyRoute is pretty good, though...
 
I use Google Maps to plan my route. I like scenic routes and the ability to StreetView spots along the way is helpful. Also the integration with user-based reviews of hotels and restaurants helps with selection. Integration with traffic is also good to route around road closures as they seem to have up-to-date information.
 
I plan my routes on my Mac desktop using Road Trip Planner software.
It allows unlimited way points but gets slow after 50.
Unfortunately it is not compatable with that other operating system.
It uses Apple Maps (Tom Tom) Google maps but best of all is Open Street Maps.
It outputs as .gpx and those can be converted online to .kml if you are using MapsMe on phone or gps capable tablet.
 
I liked Tyre which eventually switched over to the free version of MyRouteApp for a couple years and then the paid version, which is amazing for my needs.
Google Maps is fine for simple routes, but not very good for complicated routes with many changes of direction or stops.
