Plumber East End

Get the City to check it out and they’ll do it free to confirm location.

Then pay $1000/m to the guy to ‘confirm’ the issue is on the city side.

Cousin had similar and the root was about 1ft or so on his side. City came and cleaned it out anyway.

Doesn’t hurt to ask. Just hide tue baller bags of cash, Picasso, and exotics in the garage first.

I think you missed my earlier reply in the thread about this. Yeah not sure if I can make it work with the city.

Sorry I did miss it. Unfortunately this is going to be messy...financially and physically if you need to dig down and replace lines.

I try and run a snake through my pipes every 1-2 years as a precaution as I want to do some preventative maintenance.

I was able to find our cleanout and when we put the floor in, I cut an opening to it and a backflow preventer just in case...

Good luck and keep us posted.

I CAN POOP AGAIN!

Had a plumber come by today to snake the main drain under the toilet. At first it didn't seem to work, then they tried the floor drain, I said lets try the toilet drain again and it worked! The blockage was cleared. They also sent the camera down. There were some roots about 30 ft out.

So my attempts were pretty close, I think I needed to have a bit at the end of my snake to clear the roots.

Another plumber said to mix up some vinegar cleaner and water and dump it down the drain, to help clear stuff out.

Anyhow good to go!

Where is 30' compared to the property line (obviously an educated guess)?

At a sad point in my life, my wife broke her diamond off her engagment ring and I was fishing for it in a septic tank (I don't know if that's where it was, I never found it). While I am doing that, someone decided to take a big dump and flush. F that person.

Lol. Sht happens :ROFLMAO:

The 30 ft is still on my side. Actually just reaches the front of the house.

One thing of interest the plumber mentioned. The main line would go to the side of the house and bend back to the front where the main water comes in. This is so they dig one trench to do this work.
I was under the impression the main sewage line would go out the side then straight down to the street.

Anyone have any info on this?

They did also mention I could (maybe) get a drawing from the city. I'm feel that is a dead end knowing the earlier response.

I bought all the plans the municipality had for my house. The closest thing they have to what you want is a lot grading plan with water and sanitary shown on the public side of the lot line. There are no details of anything on the private side of the line. Theoretically, I would expect a set of plumbing plans which should show private side but municipality says they don't have them. I may try again in a few years and see if I can get an employee that lets me look at the file. For privacy reasons, they won't let me look and want me to request specific things. How do I know what to request when I don't know what is there? Original owner that may be listed on plans is dead. Whose privacy are they protecting? I asked for any drawings related to any building permits ever pulled. I didn't get any of the drawings for a pool even though I know there was a permit.

Every time I have to deal with the city, I'm very surprised how it's run. I'm shaking my head right now as I type this. I try to avoid as much as possible to call them for anything. Just not worth it. Making this worse the rest of the municipalities seem to be the same from your experience.

The upside to a small municipality is I walk up to a desk and talk to a nice person that knows things. The downside is I probably get the same person every time I walk in until they retire. If I don't like their answer/process, I don't have many options.
