I think the problem here is Mr. Сбербанка's real life reporting of his situation doesn't line up with YOUR preconceived notions, that are based in western propaganda, about life in Russia.
The guy is telling us he, and his family, are where they want to be... BUT YOU DON"T BELIEVE HIM.
What's wrong here is: the article you posted cherry picked statements by the wife, to feed YOUR preconceived ideas (she DIDN'T say she was frustrated in Russia the country, she said she was frustrated while being IN Russia. The husband goes on to explain their frustrations would be the same if they had recently emigrated into Canada. Their problem was money laundering regulations. WE HAVE THE SAME REGULATIONS)... and YOU drank the koolaid. YOU seem to have real problem with the Сбербанка's decisions, where your opinion has NO BEARING. Where do you get off making decisions in other people's lives? Maybe YOU don't want to live in Russia, but obviously Mr. Сбербанка DOES. WHY DO YOU CARE? (If you want, I can explain why you care, but you won't like it)

I just assumed they did, otherwise they'd continue to pay Canadian income taxes to the government and country they seem to hate enough to leave.
 
Every country has its pluses and minuses.

I can also find articles about ukranians returning to a warzone because of how crappy they found canada to be. (and it would be more reputable source than bingo bongo.com)

Not sure how much of that is hyperbole, but surely Canada wouldn't have let that person back in if they knew. Meanwhile this guy is publicly badmouthing Canada. Sounds like he has no intention of returning, so my point is moot.
 
They've only been in Russia for about a month... no?... anyway a short time. Not long enough to get Russian citizenship... so I'm guessing they all still have Canadian Passports, so are Canadians... and as Canadians we HAVE to take them back, that's international law.
AND (get your HArumph HArumph's ready) if they can claim indigent they're coming back on the taxpayer's dime

If you watch the video I linked, he says "home" a few times when he means Canada. That tells me he hasn't been media prepped. If this guy actual mattered, someone would have prepped him on what to say and HOW to say it. Referring to the country you're trying to denounce as "home" kinda distracts from the message.

I'm totally sure they'll all do just fine not only learning a new language from scratch and having zero ability to communicate in the meantime, but having to learn the whole new Cyrillic alphabet before they can even make much sense of the language. Russian is reportedly one of the most difficult languages to learn if you were not raised speaking it.

But hey, they sure owned the libs.

While I can't speak as to why someone would choose Russia as a better living environment over Canada. I can certainly agree with being disappointed in the direction that Canada seems to be headed. Almost everything seems to be disorganized when it comes to our government, policies, and services. Seems we are stuck in a vicious cycle of pay more for less environment. While there are still many aspects that make Canada great, they seem to be harder to recognize through the fog of discontent.

I think some people need to take a step back, take a deep breath, and give themselves a reality check however.

It seems that increasingly people have *convinced* themselves that we have a lot of problems that aren't based in reality.

Are things perfect? No.

Does it mean the rest of the world isn't experiencing many of the same things that we are so far as food costs, inflationary issues, housing pressures, etc? Nope.

Does it mean that all of our problems are all apparently caused by 1 person who will go unnamed, for whom a lot of people think is the sole cause of many of these issues in Canada? No.

Long story short, I think a lot of people have simply worked themselves into a state of discontent because they're failing to see the bigger picture.

Also most other western countries are experiencing issues to the same extent or worse. Japan just entered a recession. Utility and food prices in the UK are through the roof. The grass isn’t greener.

People need to realize this, but WAAAY too high a percentage of our population are living in little bubbles and have made zero effort to neither educate themselves about the realities of the world around them, nor even seem to care to. They just gobble up the narrative they're seeing on social media in their echo chambers, and blindly believe sound clips being yelled endlessly by certain politicians, and have decided that it's just an "us" thing.

I’ll agree that we aren’t nearly as bad as a lot of the world, but as I’ve said before, comparing yourself to losers will only make you feel better for a minute.

We ask out govt to responsibley representing and serving the interests of its citizens, upholding our rights, maintaining security the rule of law, and manage the overall well-being of the country through policies and regulation.

When govts start looking over their own well being and that if their friends, we lose. When the well-being of all moves backwards (housing cost, inflation, health care, and rapidly rising debt service costs), we lose.

There are good reasons for wide spread discontent with the Feds, they are simply sliding our well being backwards. Nobody like that.

If some one is moving to Russia for "greener" pastures, they're delusional.
russia's economy has never performed as well as most western nations, the GDP/capita is lower, the productivity per person is lower... and they're currently conducting the largest land war the world has seen in years.

But one of the great things about being human. You're allowed to be wrong.
