Not sure if Caledon has passed similar fines, but if you're going to the Forks or out for a ride with friends you could be pulled over and fined under the letter of the law. This past week there have been too many people out on the road and politicians have noticed and are cracking down.

Yeah, please provide an official source. I highly doubt that until I see it.

People around me keep saying this, saying they heard it from someone, from the internet, etc. But I will only believe it if I see it from an official source.

OPP has regularly debunked the myth that people are being stopped and/or charged for simply being outside or going for a drive. They have explicitly stated that there are no restrictions regarding travel, only that when you are outside or traveling, follow the physical distancing bylaws and only travel in a vehicle with other people from your same address.
It is ‘strongly suggested’ to avoid unnecessary travel, but it is still 100% legal.

Had a chat with a friend today and they were telling me when the Spanish Flu happen they follow the exact same things we are doing today, social distancing, closed business, no large gatherings. Took a year and half until it got back to normal.

The Spanish flu had some setbacks after phase 1. People thought it was beaten and went somewhat back to normal. Suffered a big spike for phase 2.

I keep hearing all these comparisons to the Spanish Flu, however everyone keeps forgetting that it was 100+ years ago and our understanding of all aspects of science relating to these sorts of things is astronomically better. It would be like comparing the Titanic to a modern day ocean liner - we've learned a few things in the last century.....

Am I suggesting that things will be "normal" until we come up with a treatment or a vaccine? Nope. Is it a stretch to expect that things are going to go down just like the Spanish Flu? Yep.

People can choose one other household to partner with to form a "two-family bubble."

You see, right there....that is a recipe for failure.

People won't do this. The chances of even 50% of the population of ANY province following that guideline for the potentially the next year is near zero.

They need to think more out of the box - educate people TO THE HILT on how this spreads including touch and body fluids sprayed almost exclusively by coughing and sneezing. If you are one of those people coughing or sneezing you're NOT welcome to be part of any social circle regardless of ANYTHING else - in short, quarantine yourself until you get better. When you're not coughing and sneezing anymore, carefully return to society, but wash your hands...don't touch your face. Whenever possible, especially indoors, wear a mask. It's NOT hard.

They had their own version of mask protestors as well at the time as some felt it unconstitutional....

i will not be getting no vaccine, but thats me i.m not judging what anyone else does
 
I'll get it but probably hold off a couple months after it becomes available, (1) to hopefully avoid any potential early-adopter headaches, (2) to let health care workers and others in occupations of particular high risk get vaccinated first - and there might not be a choice, I think they'll get vaccinated first before anyone else has the opportunity to.

In this situation in particular, eventually after that vaccine becomes available, there is a really high probability that if you want to travel to another country and not be quarantined for two weeks, you will have to show proof of vaccination ...

I am becoming less and less optimistic that there will be any hockey or football or baseball or basketball games with crowds, or movie theatres, or conferences, or live concerts, or international travel without a 2-week quarantine on both ends of the journey, before a vaccine is developed. Restaurants, probably, but with limited occupancy (no dense crowds). Airlines are toast. Aircraft manufacturers are toast. Cruise lines are toast. A lot of holiday destinations will be toast. Sports that can survive on TV and internet broadcasts have a chance. Outdoor sports might get by, with limited crowd density (no full grandstands). This completely screws up the business model that a lot of bigger sporting events (and concerts) use - i.e. the venue pays the organiser to bring the event there, and relies on ticket revenue (for in-person ticket sales) to bring in the money to pay for that. No live spectators = no money for the venue to pay the organiser to bring the event there.
 
At least game developers will be hauling it in

A bit long but from the pilots seat, things aren't looking good. Who wants to get onto a Max 8 along with a bunch of unknowns?


It will be interesting how the multi million dollar salaries will work out in the entertainment / sports industries.

Might be some deals on off lease Ferraris.

I have a cousin that makes a good part of his income at trade shows......
